Quantum levitation is real, but I'm afraid that video is fake.. it's most definitely CGI.

What makes you think it's fake?

If you look at it more carefully, everything is 'too' smooth. The vapour from the nitrogen and everything.. I'm highly skeptical!

I'm inclined to agree with Bloomerz, and my basis for that is that I don't see any means of steering the 'cars'.

On a quantum levitation track, the vehicle maintains it's orientation, whether spinning or stationary, as it travels along the track.

Those wipeout cars seem to be steering and leaning into non-banked corners without any visible means or adjustment.

However, the concept is more than possible, can't be hard to make something like that for real, but I don't think this is it.

I think 2097 and 3 are still the best out of the ones I've played (up until Fusion on the PS2, basically). I think you could get the original and 2097 on the PC but that's about it - I don't know if there's any decent alternatives.

The newer ones are PSP exclusives though I think there's a PS3 one out on whatever Sony's equivalent to the 360 Arcade is?

That said £20 on fleabay with get you a working PSX/PSOne (with change unless it's got a few games or extra stuff with it) and Wipeout was popular so the games aren't rare or expensive.

Hmmm I need to set up one of my Playstations sometime...
