Most users ever online was 601, 29-01-2005 at 18:27
Wonder if this will ever be beaten?
probably not mate.
Take a look at how many registered users there are, and notice how much of hem actually come online.
Its mainly our usual bunch.
And even if a newbie does come on, they get the info they ask for and then dont bother staying too long.
e.g: that bloke that kept going on about a sig, then when he eventually got one, he is now nowhere to be seen.
Registered users + guests.
The most i have ever seen on at one time was like 20 members plus the like 30 guest
What was the occasion that had so many people online?
Probably a competition
You used to have a lot more people loitering around the For Sale forum looking for a bargain.
It may have been a LOT of bots contributing to that. Quite often the 'guests' that are browsing are search engine crawlers, can confirm from the IP.
Either that we were under a Denial of Service attack, lol.
Aside from guests didn't there used to be a massive amount of spam bots registering on here at one point when the site was running an older version of vB?
maybe it was back when the insomnia thread was running........everyone came on for that
I think if the pc gallery section worked it would generate more site interest.
Personally I don't browse here as much as some of the other forums I visit due to the forum software. I like IPB it looks nicer and functions better. If all I want to do is post and read I'm going to go for the forum that looks the best as that is the only differing characteristic between the online tech forums. They all have the same types of users and the same posts and discussions.
vBulletin to me just looks so 1999.
It was google bots, most likely.
vB is far better than IPB, plus the simple fact that either can be customised as needed so I doubt anyone (other than maybe software fanboys) are going "Oh, it's vB, I won't use it then"
