For those of you that like thrasing your broswer go ahead.

Firefox rocks, opera for the cool people.

Que jabazcool saying that FF sucks and IE is better.

Then a few people mocking above person.

Then Big A and Forthy doing some thread tidying up.

Right, seem to have covered all of the bases so this shouldnt turn into a browser war argument.....i hope.

Erm I install it and then it wants to connect to the Internet for updates. Shame that the updates can't be downloaded, and thus the install can't do anything. My university network provents security updates being downloaded. Both automatic and microsoft update via the website. So I can't sadly install it.

I've installed it at on our browser test bed at work for testing purposes - so far so good. The CSS support looks good - tho' i've not really put it through it's paces yet.

What i like about this version is how Microsoft have publicly developed it - taking and implementing feedback from their end users. I'd submitted a couple of CSS rendering bugs during the Beta / RC stages - all of which have been discussed and fixed. Hopefully Mircosoft will continue to develop IE7+ in this way.

I think people are missing a big point with IE7. It's release is going to be a massive step forward for the modern internet. IE5/6 are years old but they are still the most popular browsers by a long shot. I personally feel they have been holding the internet back.

With IE7 the new wave of technology us [insert your non IE browser here] users take for granted will become mainstream... RSS feeds will become things non-techies use to get relevant web content delivered quickly. Us web developer types will be able to tap into the full potential of technologies like CSS2/3 without excluding the massive IE user base.

Umm, you do know that Microsoft are stopping support for Sp1 and below?

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/support/endofsupport.mspx#EHB

Or do I detect somebody who is running a copy of XP that won't pass WGA?

I've been running IE7 in it's beta forms for a while now with no problems, although my main browser is Firefox 2, so IE7 only gets used when somebody doesn't know how to write a standards compliant website.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

I knew, don't worry. You might've missed the sarcasm in my original post, Jez :p

I don't particularly want SP2. I have no need for it and I don't see any reason to do a full wipe/install just for SP2 (I don't fancy 'SP2 death' either).

Especially as this install of Windows has currently been here since July 2004, and still runs as well (if not better due to CPU upgrades and system tweaks) as it did when first installed. :)

Fortunate! Call me paranoid, weird and incompetant, but I'm afraid I've seen a few.

Edit: Anyway, this thread is about IE7.

Just installed IE7, it seems good, except that the file, edit, view etc can't me moved above the URL bar which is REALLY ANNOYING!!!!!!

Kill me now, I actually prefer how Ff handles tabs, the close button on each tab is really annoying, even more annoying than the fact that if you open a lot, you need to keep clicking left and right to see them all

something else, the stupid search box opens the results in the samw windoiw/tab and there is no way to change it!
