    I felt really unlucky to be the first year that had the loans instead of grants - I mean at the time it did suck - friends in the year above were on grants while I was on the loans!

    The worst thing was that in the 2nd year, the SLC doubled the interest rate - completely breaking the agreement of keeping it at the base rate - I still had 2 years to go and my debt accrued over £2k in interest before I graduated.

    Now, many years on, I find it quite a pain to pay around £200 per month to the SLC - that could pay for something nice instead! The tax section on my payslip makes me want to cry.

    Buddy UNI is not just only an option, I would rather suggest you o check some online courses. There are plenty of them available on the internet. I agree with that there should be low tax rate for them so more students feel motivation for study higher.

    Holy thread resurrection! :) I know that Uni is not the the only option. I never went and do alright for myself.
