4 years of being rejected for not being fat enough and then I'm all clear and they write to me to tell me they don't believe how much my prescription in my eyesight has got so much better so they say I can never apply for the army even though I'm perfectly fit and healthy and within the medical requirements, so they reject my application and just fob me off as not fit even though I am and they know I am... they are going off a record a year ago and don't believe anyone could improve that much in a year so threw my appeal out aswel!!!!

    (insert angry curses here!!!)

    Join the TA.

If you can prove you are up to scratch in there then its a lot easier to transfer into the regulars.

I don't think I can even get in the TA cuz they rejected the regulars! just annoys me I failed on poor eye sight I've had my annual eye test and it's now in the limits and they have said that it's not physically possible for anyones eyesight to improve that much! Well I wouldn't lie about it knowing they will re-test me after selection and my optician wouldn't lie and get done for fraud!!! grrrr!!!

Surely a signed note from a professional opticians would be enough to prove that it is possible?

Well my optician has signed the forms and filled them in and the appeal letter and repeat army medical form and the letter the senior medical officer sent me this morning was effectively saying that it was all lies and it was not possible for someone to improve that much. and with such a drastic change I would never be allowed to join the army... even though the drastic change is for the better and not the worst! B*****DS!!!

you would agree that they have to err on the side of caution though.

time to move on i think. you've tried and appealed and it's failed.

You really are maturing forthy , with age your getting funnier.

I suspect its a woman thing , and im not usually the kind of person that would suggest such a card.Had a pal that was denied entry to get a commission on similar grounds , but thats because he wanted to go uxb so psch eval was on the cards right away.

Dont let it get you down , they probably just think your only good enough to pop a couple of pups as human sandbags.

try the royal marine reserves , if they dont take your then your fubarred.

I'm pretty sure the royal marines are male only. To do with them all being front line troops so limited to men only.

either way to basically say someone of a profession is lying is harsh and knowing that it's took me 4 years to be perfectly medically fit and I've done it quicker than they thought I would to turn round and say no! It's annoying!

it's what I'm going to look at next if the sgt doesn't ring me back in a min!!! They have been pig ignorant and I'm considering other options as they are not treating my brother very well.

He was hit with a shell in Iraq and it's made him deaf so he can't hear his alarm in the morning and each morning he is late they charge him a weeks wages even though they know that he is deaf and is waiting to see a specialist for a hearing aid! So to punnish him they stuck him on guard duty for a week during his birthday and cancelled his leave home for time with his family!!!

Hmm is seriously making me re-consider!

His mates ring him and knock his door but his mate who just left she used to have a spare key to his room and used to go in and shake him till he wakes up. Since she's been gone it's all gone a bit messed up but they know he has a sleeping and hearing problem and should accomodate for that as it is effectively their fault... they are yet to provide his hearing aid which he's needed for the last 7 months so he is just left to potter around deaf... does that make the army camp a safe place for him? Is working a good idea in that state?

All the rest aside, that they've put a near-deaf man on guard duty, even if it's a safe location here in the UK, shows how idiotic the armed forces can be at times.

Why do you still want to join after the way they've treated your brother and you?

What attracts you to the armed forces out of interest?

    (rather than a different job)
