Motherboard Fan header Problem

For some reason the _chassis fan headers on my striker II extreme are stuck at 100% theres options in the bios to enable q-fan and duty cycle mode but they do nothing, the chassis fans stay at 100%, yet the option fan headers can be controlled properly in the bios, strang issue, you think one of the fan controllers could be dead?

Have you got 3 or 4 pin fans connected?

Based on the 'duty cycle' setting, it sounds like it's a PWM controller, so it won't be able to control the fan speed unless a 4-pin PWM fan is connected...

Yea theyre 3pin type latency, on the board theres other three 3 pin headers named OPT_1 ,2 and 3, these all work properly and arent stuck on 100%

Theres 8 headers on the board CHASSIS_ 1,2,3 OPT_ 1,2,3 ,CPU & PWR_FAN only the cpu fan is 4 pin pwm

But only the chassis ones cant be speed controlled (stuck on full) by AI suite or in the bios. Im beginning to suspect a blown transistor i hope not but it looks that way

Mmm... maybe... if something had gone pop, I'd more expect the fan not to run at all.

Personally, I prefer to run my case fans fixed-speed (manual fan controller, 7volted, etc), otherwise the varying case temperature keeps the CPU fan jumping around- I hate hearing fans winding up and down constantly...

Dont know if it's worth me getting the multimeter out and probing the board but if all else fails suppose i could use my lian li controller, bit reluctant to do so though because of all the cable mess.

Yea, I've done some hardcore cable extensions to hide the fan leads going to my fan controller.

Have you tried using software to control those fans? Maybe you need q-control turned on, and then an Asus software utility can manage them?

I know AMD chipsets have software access to fan speeds.

Yea tried asus ai suite and speedfan nothing, permanently set to maximum. opt fan 1 2 and 3 have seperate controllers they work ok using one of them on my fgx card fan (akasa vortexx) but theres a single chassis fan controller on the board to control the speed of 3 other headers which isnt working well it is but i cant turn them down.
