What's wrong with IE7, just in case it's related to the firefox issues?

What sort of connection issues is FF throwing up?

Try uninstalling FF completely and then re-installing it.
Check the Application Event Log (right click my computer, manage, event viewer...) to see if FF is leaving an error report- might contain some useful info...

And is that the case with both FF and IE? Do these pages work in Safari?

Any result from uninstalling FF and installing a fresh copy?

Try resetting IE: Control Panel -> Internet Properties -> Advanced -> Reset Internet Explorer
