Astra POWER! When the powers off, it's still on!

So as some of you will have noticed we had a power cut yesterday that lasted a while.

As a couple of hours went by and we tried to do out best, rigging up some white cathodes to a car battery that in some sort of wisdom I had kept here at the shop.

As the time was fast approaching 3pm, and the Interlink couriers were due. We needed to print out the manifest etc. so that the orders we had got done in the morning, and packed by cathode light could go out.

Now, it's not what most people carry about, but I have a box of bits in my car, amongst which is an 800W 12v dc to 230v ac converter, add this and a couple of long extensions, and you have Kustom powered by an Astra

At the height of the load, we actually were powering our internal server, 2 hubs, a router and a laptop in order to download the orders and keep the website up to date.

Don't ever say Kustom doesn't go that extra mile for it's kustomers

Take a look.

It did get a few funny looks, but worked surprisingly well.

Must say, yesterday really was an absolute royal pain - we've had a few power cuts lately but that was the worst. It's incredible how much we rely on power - we couldn't take card payments in the store or tell people what products cost, short of just taking a best guess, since everything is stored by computer.

Glad to be up and running again though !

Well, we did that for a while too.

I brought an acoustic guitar in from home so that we could have a 'jam'.

Well more so, a jam being me playing guitar while Thomas and Steven played Java Worms on my phone...

Yes worms on graeme's phone are quite good.
