Freezer 64 Pro
Hi,
I am wondering, I am getting a new computer soon (In Sig) and I will definately change the cooler. I have read loads of reviews in mags and on the web, and I think the one mentioned in title is the one to go for. But I have questions: 1. Would it put a considerable amount of strain on the motherboard socket? 2. Would it fit properly onto the motherboard? 3. Would I be able to fit it without taking the motherboard out of the case for installation? If you have this cooler fitter on this motherboard or similar Asus motherboard, could you please message back with your information please .Thanks in Advance. BloomerzUK

I have been Google'ing englessly, and I just found a review with my future motherboard.
You do need to take the motherboard out for installation, because it use different plates for installation. So question number 3 is answered from above. So only question un-answered really is the weight issue. I've been told it's a medium amount of weight on the socket and you should be carefull. It's basically half a bag of sugar hanging on your socket, it's bound to case some stress. Anyone know if this is nothing to worry about or know? Thanks BloomerzUK

I fitted this cooler to my prem board while still fitted in my case, It was a bit fiddily but no dramas.
As for stress the premium boards have a large backplate to spread the load so it wont cause any problems.

1) With a weight of 520 g you probably need to be a little careful with this cooler. I currently have a similar weight cooler on a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium board and the board doesn't bend at all. Be a little careful if you transport your computer as that might weight may do some damage if moved. 2) The cooler uses the standard retention clip and therefore won't need you to remove the board as long as you have the standard plate on the board currently 3) I found this review (http://www.virtual-hideout.net/revie...ro/index.shtml) where they install the cooler onto a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium. I hope that helps, Nick |
