Which gfx card?
XFX 7800GTX XT Edition 256MB or Sapphire X1800XT 512Mb?
I'm a bit lost as to which one to go for. I've read the 7800GTX is a bit better but not sure as how things will go with the ATI based mobo. Any advice? I'm not going for crossfire or sli so thats not an issue, as you can see with the board. Processor: AMD64 3700+ Board: Sapphire 'Pure innovation' PI-A9RX480 RAM: 2 x 512Mb OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 PSU: OCZ Powerstream 520w

Through experience, i'd go for the NVidia card. I've had more problems with one ATi card than what i've had with all my NVidia cards put together!!

Since I don't know anything about either of these caeds, I'd say go for the cheaper one.

Also, XFX's techy support is amazing.....
I cooked my card due to a dodgey oc, they took it back and fixed it (after i lied my **** off tbh ) and they got it back to me roughly 2 days later ![]() Took me about a month or 2 to get them to take it back and fix it |

Your all wrong - the x1800xt outperforms the 7800GTX as you can see in a fair amount of benchies across the web. The only card to beat it is the 512mb GTX - get the ATI card!

Look people - stop fanboying and actually READ articles like this which quite clearly shows that the x1800xt outperforms the 7800GTX 256 AND looks nicer in the bargain. I have a GTX 512mb - which is the ONLY card out faster than the XT 512mb. Even then the 1800xt looks slightly better with ATI's newer architecture. Next gen is anyone's guess but here's how it stands: Fastest card out: 7800GTX 512mb Best speed/image quality card out: x1800xt 512mb Decent price: 7800GT |

What Kempez815 says is partially true but... at this moment ATI still has/have unable to solve its driver issues they have been getting... from what i've heard

I've been drawn to the ATI cards since the FX5200 days
I realise those days are obviously now over & its time to consider the choice a bit more unbiased. I'm now seeing more reviews giving the x1800xt a better write up than the 7800gtx but each time I think I've made my mind up I come back & something else written here makes me think again lolI'll order the bits over the weekend but at the moment the x1800xt has me convinced. The driver issues hopefully sort themselves out in due time as its a relatively new core.
