Blue screen error gone wrong...?
Right, here is the most bizzare windows error I've ever seen.
Blue screen errors are normally easy to fix cos they tell you what's wrong right? But I can't even READ this one: ![]() It's intermittant, comes up totally at random without warning. I've only seen it appear playing WoW or GTA:SA, it does not appear during FFXI. Temperatures are normal, and it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything in particular. I've tried updating my motherboard and graphics drivers. I'm running windows 2000, and it's extreamly cut down, only two background apps running are LCDC and MBM5. As I say, very intermittant, sometimes goes for a week with no sighting, but today it's done it 3 times in an hour. Any ideas?

Hmm, thats a strange one. I wanna check that your BSOD is ok, in the regisetry, create the folowing key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\i8042prt\Parameters
REG_DWORD: CrashOnCtrlScroll Value: 1 This will create a crash situation, that will tell us if your machine blue screens correctly. Once you've created the key, log off, log back on, and then hit ctrl and scroll, if it dont work, try the other ctrl, or reboot. JS |

Hum hum... I made a reg key, but I'm not sure I've done it right as it doesn't work.
Here's what I've got: ![]() That entered correctly? I've looked at the event log aswell, prior to updating my graphics drivers, there's a succession of Warning entries from ati2mtag saying 'invalid pixel format' It's hard to tell, but there seems to be 2 of these messages each time it's crashed. Judging by the time stamp, they appear upon restarting after the crash. After I've updated my drivers, the Warnings stop, and I have a serries of Errors instead, from the same ati2mtag. I think I can assume this is the ATi Driver. These errors say 'CPLIB :: Open Session - Failed to load the library' They seem to appear each time the computer is started up, regardless of weather it crashed previously or not.

That looks fine, try pressing ctrl, then double tapping scroll lock, also try it with both of the crtls, left and right.
Tell me what error pops up. Thanks |

Sorry for the uber late reply, was away for a week.
I'm trying control scroll lock, but it's not working at all. Tried both ctrl keys, and tapping in succession, eveything you said... It might be worth notiong that if I hold down ctrl, the scroll lock key doesn't seem to work, the light doesn't come on anyway. I tried changing it to crash on crtl end, but that didn't work either.

I used to see a similar thing just before my Geforce 5 gave up - not blue screen, but scrambled graphics during the boot sequence, after resetting due to crashing while gaming. Had to restart a few times to correct it.
