AMD engine control

dont know where to post this really...

right so what happens is, turn the pc on.. and sometimes the desktop doesn't fit the screen... as its to small or even to big so the task-bar is off the screen

so ihave AND engine control to do the overscan thing,

but ijust want to know why it does it?

and sometimes when it gets turned on it says new CPU inserted,,, but it deffo doesnt have a new one :L

it does it because it must mis-detect the screen size correctly upon boot...
but like you said, very simple to sort out..

Although once its set, it should stay how you want it.. you shouldnt have to re-set it each time you boot your pc up...

My HDTV has a built-in overscan setting with two options, I use that to fix this issue.

Try pressing the Aspect Ratio button on the TV remote, that should do that same thing on yours- it's only a small adjustment, but it may be enough to get the overscan setting right without the need to adjust the AMD drivers.
