Cant find cool n quiet help plz

Hey guys,

So...i have the amd phenom 960t cpu i decided to try and unlock the other 2 cores, which has worked perfectly, so now running a phenom ii X6 1605T @3.6ghz, However i wanted to disable cool n quiet, but its gone!! i have a Asus M5A97 motherboard with a uefi bios...It was in the Advanced tab with the CPU details but there is nothing there now.

Tryed locking the cores back up to see if it re-appeared but no luck.

Can anyone help with this please?

Paul

Cool n quiet under clocks the CPU when idle to lower heat, and thus fan noise.
It's automatic on modern AMD CPUs, but the auto fan control may not be.

Either way, you probably wont see CnQ in the bios, so look for smart fan instead...

No. While in CnQ mode, if the CPU is needed, it clocks back up to full speed in less than a second, it also works fairly well when you have an overclock dialled in as well, although some people turn it off so they can get a better idea of what the CPU is doing when they're testing over clocks.

The only time I've seen CnQ cause trouble was on a sound-engineering workstation, the jittery nature of the software the chap was using caused micro-stutters in the sound as the CPU kept switching between normal and CnQ mode.
It has no visible impact on gaming rigs.
