To update it you need safe mode with networking. Once it is updated scan the whole computer, if it can't remove something it will run spybot the next time you boot before you can log into windows.

Hi Cosmo, thanks for the help. I have now tried Spybot, both in Safe Mode, and Safe Mode with Networking, but Spybot will not start up in either mode. It appears in the taskbar, but no program starts up... very strange.

I have runn CCleaner in Safe Mode, and Spybot in regular Windows XP mode... Atlas.DMT.com still keeps reappearing. Any other ideas?

Scroll down, there's a manual removal technique

Send a message via MSN to latency
Make a blank text file and rename it and it's extention to the same thing as the atlas cookie. Replace the atlas cookie with it, and then set the file to read only.

Oh, that's an interesting idea! Obviously, the cookie will still show up on Spyware searches, but if I make the file blank and read-only, that would make me feel better! I'll give it a go... thanks for the help.

Well now, this is just getting more and more annoying! I went to edit the file, as suggested, but my Cookies folder seems to have completely disappeared! I did a Windows search for the Cookies folder, and also for the Atlas file, and nothing shows up! What's going on?!

Hi, I've managed to get my Cookies folder to re-appear, and I have tried this suggestion. I copied the original cookie (atdmt[2]) to my desktop, made it a blank file using Notepad, then copied it back to the Cookies folder, overwriting the original. Shortly afterwards, a new cookie, atdmt[3] appeared, as well as atdmt[2]! So, it simply respawns a new cookie if you try to alter the first one!

Does anyone know how to get rid of AtlasDMT for good?
