Cannot get rid of AtlasDMT.com cookie, anyone help?

Hi all,

I do regularly scan my PC and keep it clean of viruses and unwanted cookies, but I am having serious trouble getting rid of this "AtlasDMT.com" cookie. I know it's not a life-threatening virus, but it can track browsing movements, and I do not want it on my PC anyway.

Every time I delete the cookie, it magically reappears moments later. I have opened up both Firefox and IE8, and blocked all of the following cookie addresses;

atdmt.com
atlasdmt.com
atlassearch.com
atlassolutions.com

Neither Avira or CA Yahoo AntiSpy can successfully remove the cookie for good - it always reappears shortly afterwards.

Can anybody please help me get rid of AtlasDMT.com for good?

Thank you

Have you tried a file-cleaning program like ccleaner? They are tend to get rid of most unwanted files...

Although it looks like it comes back when you use a browser - you haven't installed any dodgy add-ins or added search options to the search box?

Hi, thanks for the reply, no I've used Firefox for years now, this Atlas thingy has just started showing up over the past two or three months. I had used Ccleaner earlier this year, and done a major clean out. I really have no idea where this came from but I did conduct an experiment...

I have CA Yahoo AntiSpy built into Firefox, have done for years. It successfully finds and delets the AtlasDMT.com cookie. But, then if I open a new IE or Firefox window, the Atlas cookie magically respawns itself. I want rid of this bloody thing, it's doing my head in!

Can you help?

Thanks

I've searched for this on Google, and loads of results show up, do you have a link to the actual software?

You could try removing it in safe mode but i'm not 100% if that would do it, what i'd do is open msconfig (start, run "msconfig") and go to startup tab and check over it very carefully looking for anything that seems out of place, i had something similar a few years back and it reinstalled itself anytime windows started which seems to be whats happening here. also a check over your startup folder in your main start all programs area would'nt hurt but odds are it's hidden. Hence why i think you should give msconfig a spin, if you see something that looks like it's got a similar name then disable it, remove it and restart and hopefully it should work.

Just my two cents.

Hi Sajuuk,

thanks, I tried what you said, and there doesn't appear to be anything dodgy in the Start-up list. I also ran Hijack This and scoured over the log, and I'm no expert, but I couldn't spot anything there. I suspect that it has rooted itself in the System folder somewhere, and places a copy of itself in Windows, and each time I delete the windows copy of it, the system copy respawns itself... or something like that!

I am absolutely determined to get this AtlasDMT.com OFF my PC, it has no right being there! I really hope the good folks here at Kustom can help me!

Download spybot on another computer and copy it over to yours in safe mode using a memory stick. Install, update and run.

Hi, I downloaded Spybot using another computer, and put it onto a freshly formatted USB stick. Started up my PC in safe mode, transeferred Spybot over, and it installed ok, but it would not update itself in safe mode, so I went back to regular windows and ran it. It hasn't made any difference, well not for the better!

Not only is AtlasDMT.com still there, but I now seem to have "KollyNoody" downloader on my PC!

Can anybody please help? I am so sick of all this spyware and adware! Ggrrrrr

Hi mate,

yeah, I know a good, full format would wipe the computer clean, but I've had this PC for a few years now, have upgraded it as much as it can be, got lots of software on it, etc... a full format really is out of the question.

I did just go into Safe Mode, and I ran CCleaner, deleted almost everything it suggested, worked on the registry, etc... but still, this blimmin' AtlasDMT.com cookie still persists!

Surely, there must be a way to get rid of this thing?!
