I think I can safely speak for many of us here when I say, "my room doesn't get much sunlight". : P

Unless, of course, it can be powered by the light coming from a monitor. That'd be really neat.

A desk lamp will be enough... not sure about the monitor.

Personally I think it's a great keyboard design gone to waste, modern logitech keyboards can get well over a year or more from a single pair of decent AA batts.

Some kind of renewable-powered mouse would be more useful, as mice still use more power than keyboards.

      Rig FX-6 6200 @ 4GHz (Zalman 9900m HSF) - Radeon HD5850 @ 775MHz (XFX Heatpipe HSF)
      MSI 990FXA-GD80 - 8GB Kingston HyperX 1600MHz - Corsair CX 430watt - 22" LG 16:10
Cooler Master ATCs 201b - Blacked interior - Twin 80mm BLED intake & exhaust - Lamptron Touch

Patent it before someone else comes along and makes it.

It could be something which has a built-in dynamo/alternator to recharge a battery as you move it around.
I always look this good in the morning, what's your excuse?

Indeed - it's a nice idea, but between the price and efficiency of modern wireless keyboards running on batteries it's just not going to wash with most people.

45-50 for this thing, or 15 for a normal wireless Logitech keyboard. Even if you go for standard ripoff normal shop pricing for Duracell/Energizer batteries at about 4 a pack (1 per battery) you'd have to go through 15 pairs of AA batteries to break even; which probably translates to 10-15 years or use - by which point it'll be obsolete or broken anyway.

          Good idea, too expensive.

Yes it does power from monitor light, and lasts 3 months on a single charge, pretty much making battery powered wireless keyboards obsolete.

If you have 50 to spend on not using batteries, that is.

That being said, that price isn't bad... I mean, my logitech wireless set cost me about 70-odd, and it includes a mouse.

Allowing 30 for the mouse and 40 for the keyboard, the price tag on this keyboard isn't that daft.

It's true that logitech is expensive, but their stuff is comparably priced to each other.

Oh yeah entirely true, I spent 90 or so on a Dinovo Edge for my HTPC and I've had both MX700 and MX1000 mice in the past for my main PCs, both of which must have been at least 50 each.

I'm not saying it's a bad product, it'll be as nice as any of Logitech's other keyboards, but 50 is a lot for a pretty bog standard wireless keyboard just for the sake of solar power - given that you can get a nice 'normal' wireless Logitech one for 15-20.

Nice looking keyboard. Not sure about it though. I do prefer 'wired' ones

Yea I'd happily swap the diNovo Cordless Desktop for Notebooks keyboard I have on my shop counter for one of these any day of the week.

                            No doubts it looks fantastic.

In fact contrary to what I said at the start of this thread, I like it a lot, I just wish Logitech would also use this concept for a mouse.
