Guys,

Saw T3 last week and thought it was excellent. Typical Arnie film, with loads of explosions etc, but I actually thought the plot kinda made sense.

So what did you all think?

Cheers,
Stephen

i enjoyed it to but if you look at the movie its basically T2 but differnet setting theres alot of stuff in it they do but they have just changed the location cant wait fir 4th and 5th ones

I agree it was similar to T2, but at least everything comes back full circle to T1, with Judgement Day still happening and Skynet taking over the world. Not sure how they could make more films unless they set them in the future and base them around a fight against machines - or has that film already been tried :D

Matrix anyone?

Cheers,
Stephen

On the whole I really enjoyed the film but the only thing that annoyed me was the battery packs that the 101 carries that explodes hideously when damaged. Surely they would've exploded when being crushed in a compressor or when being melted in liquid metal. Unless someone can explain it away then I'll be happy!

Perhaps, but in T2 when he was staked, it took him a few seconds to stop moving, so its possible he had enough residual power to do that and only that

Anybody else notice a continuity error then?

The Cessna that was flown away from the airbase had a different registry number in the sky than it had when on the ground.

Anybody else notice any other continuity errors, or am I really just sad for noticing this ?:D

Maybe just the 'b' in dumb and the 'e' in something !

:D - only kidding !

I think iggy was trying to say that nobody cares about the continuity error, or that no one else was sad enough to notice.

:p

i have been thinking about this one, on the first film where he was crushed ,,, depending how much of him was blown up the power modules could have been destroyed ( u know like nukes they wont go off ) .. but this holds the question how could he move lol ... mabye it did not crush enough ,

now with the hot metal one .. they were probbley allmost destroyed instantly, gone tono nothing melted.

just a few ideas.

You cannot begin to compare T2 and T3 to the original, let alone hope for true continuity of plotline!

For starters, T1 was an excellent tense thriller. Completely original concept. Superb direction. And totally unreliant on special effects (save for last robo-skeleton scenes). Despite being cast in the title role, the film was MUCH more than an Arnie vehicle. Can you imagine Arnie ever appearing in another film where he takes no part for the final 15 minutes?

T2 was simply a vehicle for Arnie. It's concept was genius. Reprise your most successful role but this time be the good guy! Catagorise the violence as "cartoon" and we can get away with showing it to kiddies. But apart from the truck/bike chase (still some of the best cinematic audio you'll ever hear) it only contains one true gem of a scene......at the end of the 'biker's bar' shot where Arnie is about to ride off to the sound of "Bad to the bone" but stops to disarm the bar owner and instead of killing him......snatch his sunglasses. Any cooler and this scene would freeze!

Oh and it was the inspiration behind one of the best jokes in Wayne's World too! :D

T3, well hands up, I haven't seen it yet but from the trailers it looks like T2 with bells on. Lets rely on heaps of effects whilst keeping Arnie very firmly centre stage. Oh, and while we're at it, tone it down and lower the cinema rating again.

T1 is up there with "Assault on Precinct 13" and "Alien" but, whilst T2 has it's moments, T2 and T3 are more akin to Spiderman and the Hulk rather than being true classics of the genre.

Assault on Precinct 13, I'd forgot about that. What a classic film, and a brilliant music score:) I used to play a game on my Amiga, can't remember the name but it was written by the bitmap brothers that used the theme from Precinct 13 for the in game music.

(sorry for going off topic)

Personally I enjoyed the film tremendously. I thought the special effects were incredible and appropriate for a Terminator movie.

I also liked the fact that the "bad guy" is a woman (and what a woman) - good to see that magnets still affect sensitive electronics even in the future!

I thought the script writers did a superb job of writing a plot that works around the fact that whole Skynet saga appears to be over at the end of T2 - brilliantly conceived and executed.

As for the powerpack dilemma - weren't you all paying attention. The T1000 is not the same T1000 that served John Connor when he was a child - it is an entirely different T1000, only the skin was the same so that the older John Connor would not see him/it as threatening. Therefore, bearing in mind that Skynet has had some time to "evolve" its killing machines, is it not feasible that the powerpacks for the T1000 series were revised over the years - hence the new explosive pack (I upgrade my PSU regularly, I'm sure Skynet does too!). I don't see any continuity problem there (I'm so sad).

All-in-all a great action-fest. Mindless, wantonly violent and total destruction, mahem and chaos - just what I want and expect from the Terminator series.

Just seen it and I liked it. I agree with DarkBlue about the powerpacks, but lets face it, any mis-continuity can be put down to time travel and such.

I hope they don't make T4... mainly because the T's are done with really, it's now the war, and we know John leads a team to defeat the robots (as said in the original movie). The fate explained in the previous movies happens exactely, except a bit later, because T3 was all about making sure they survived in the old bunker.

T4 with another Arnie vs T-XXX plot would be dull. T3 worked because it was different to T2, but I can't imagine it working for a two-bot fight with a third alternate plot...

very good point Danielctull i agree we need to see the war now and not "the kid's gonna get killed again send in arnie to sort it out"

havent seen T3 yet going this weekend

In all fairness though we do not need to see the war as we know the outcome... Plus to be honest the reason they do the send in arnie is because we need to identify with a small group of individuals, and a war with just random machines and a few random humans would be pointless - we wouldn't care who won really.

It is what makes us human if you like, we have feelings and need to relate to a character. This is the reason people liked the orignal Terminator, even though he was a bad guy...

Plus in my little world, the Terminator movies are just prequels to the Matrix movies ;)
