Whats the point...

I keep it updated using windows update and always have done, once id got all the critical updates applied and once id chosen to install all the other crap just so it said no updates (mediaplayer 9, .net framework)

Suddenly it finds 2 critical updates from feb 2002 today... whats the point if it just decides because its older it isnt critical now?
Why didnt they always show up..?

I think some of them run in series, and you have to have one before the other. It's probably installed something that says you need something from ages ago, that you haven't installed before because you first used WU in march 2002, and it hasn't needed them yet.

Does that make sense?

its probably an update that you only needed now , ie some piece of software thats being usde now that wasnt when the last one was done.

hmmm maybe then (to both), but it still makes me want to kill it.

it was MSXHTML 4.0 something or other which id think id have used before now really, and since i reformat roughly every 3 months id have thought this would have happened before as well.


im seriously thinking about buyiong an Amiga again, they never needed updates. Once in a while it just died for no reason, you hit the LMB and its back.

it can get quite annoying. i just dl all the updates, and keep them on disk, and batch install them. much easier
