View Full Version : CoolerMaster Aero 7 Cooler - noise levels?
Has anyone bought one yet?

Looks quite impressive, and is suppose to be silent on the lowest fan setting, and still keep OK temps. Plus the advantage of not having the 'deadzone' in the middle.
I got Zalman with standard fan at moment, but thinking of upgrading to XP2500+ or maybe higher, and not sure my lil Zalman will keep up without pumping up the fan speed, and which gets quite noisey and thus poiintless using it! :)
Read a few reviews this one here is not bad:

I bought myself the Aero 7+ not so long ago... last month i think it was. It's brilliant at lower speed cpu's as i can run it at it's low 1900rpm... which over the noise of my PSU and old hard drive i cannot hear :)
When the fan is turned up fully it does have a rather nasty sound.. but i'm never gonna turn it up that far yet :)

I _had_ one, it runs nice and quiet at the low speeds (was able to cool my XP2500+ to ~37degC on normal use while audible but quiet).
On the other hand, my advice is to not connect ANYTHING else to the power strand that its on; I connected it and the rear 80mm fan on my case, and now I have a severely dead blower fan.
Incidentally; anyone know where to get a 70mm fan, so as to not waste the copper heatsink???
I helped my mate build a new PC a few days ago and I noticed the Aero 7 making a horrible whining noise at full speed - very noticeable. As the others say, its ok on low speed, but it really isnt a good idea on a powerful pc (when you'll need to crank it to max).

i need a 70mm but i just use a nice 21db liquid bearing 80mm fan (held on by one screw) on a p4 rig i have.. does the job and is almost completely silent :)
if i ever find anywhere which sells liquid bearing silent-type 70mm fans i'll tell ya :)

Bit late this but I've just fitted two of the beasties. My twin Athlon XP2400+s run at full chat 100% of the time (crunching SETI workunits) and the blowers are set to minimum (~1900rpm) but still they manage to keep the temps to below 60°C and are hardly audible. At full tilt the coolers drop the temps to below 50°C but do get a tad loud - but still no where near the volume of the Tt Volcano 9's that they replaced.
