Does anyone know exactly HOW loud the stock cooler on a Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4200 Golden Sample Ultra 650 XP is???
My shuttle is very quiet and I think a lot of the noise is coming from the cooler on the g/card and Im thinking about buying the Thermaltake cooler as a replacement - but only if its quieter than the current one.
Thanks for any help on this matter :D

Try stopping the fan with your finger and listen to the difference
or jsut unplug it for a few seconds - Do this when you first start the system from cold (i.e first boot up of the day) this gives you a bit more time to listen while the GPU heats up.
I wouldnt advise leaving it off for more than a few minuites even from cold.

Thanks guys - I'll certainly try that.
Thanks for the advice also - I wouldna like to loose this card - its very good + I'm trying to save up for a new machine.
I think its the PSU that makes all the noise in my shuttle though. Im not very sure im not familiar with shuttles or the PSU's.

Slap a PM in my PM box if you decide to use a Thermaltake copper GF4 cooler.
I have one sitting here, still packaged, doing nothing. ;)
I have Gainward XP750 (TI4600) and the fan on it was the noisest thing in my pc - if you can replace the stock fan with a quieter one you will notice a difference. I went for a Zalman on the advice of Graeme and various forum members - this is silent but takes up lots of space.

Clarksy - I did look at the Zalman cooler BUT the graphics card in question is in a shuttle - so I think that that solution is out of the question, but thanks for pointing that out to me anyways.
Lord avatar - you have my PM?
Which shuttle. I have a SN41G2 i can try my GF4 TI4600 with Zalman in my shuttle if you want.

Its a Shuttle Spacewalker XPC SK41. I had a look at the Zalman cooler for the GeForces and I thought that there was NO way that thing was gonna go into my case.
As it is right now the fan on the card is right up against the side of the case. BUT if you would try zalman in I would appreiciate it, let me know how you get on. Thanks
