I know there has been threads about great movies and such, but I'd like you to post in here your favourite movie ever. Put it in bold so I can go through and pick them all out at the end. Give a reason why you think its the best, and these reasons will be summarised at the end. It's kinda like Great Britons (or top gears rip off where I got the idea from  )

What I'll do is make a shortlist of 10ish at the end and put em in a poll. :D Lets say a week from now, unless the turn out is poor, I'll compile the top ten and make a poll.

So I'll start off with my favourite movie ever:

Back To The Future Part II
The series as a whole has everything in it; romance, action, special effects, mysteries, a crazy scientist and time travelling Delorean :) Part II has to be the best though, because it is magic, So many scenes from the original will make you wonder quite how they they combined the old with new. As will the table scene with Michael J. Fox acting out 3 or 4 parts at once.

So it's your turn...:)

Has to be The Matrix
because - well, what if it was real?? the storyline is feasable, the action is just incredible, and it's the only film I own that I can watch time and time again without getting bored. Really can't wait till wednesday next week and part 2 :D

so many to choose from , probably a different one in its genre.

Number 1 Forrest gump.rules , great sounds , effects and a great story superb acting play though cinema processor and is truly brilliant.
nearly any burton movie.
nearly any cameron movie.
Most depp movies.
TAXI 1-2 , leon , most luc besson action stuff , cept the camp stuff.
most john hughes stuff , before the sellout and ripoff home alone series.
King of new york , far superior to the godfather series after 1 , and most scorcesse movies are good.

For good use of audio to encompass the watcher (not the onboard dolby crap but true cinema setup) these must have a mention , abyss , t2 , jurassic park , enemy at the gates , blade.
TRusT me when you watch movies in the correct setup like mine or another true home cinema (not onboard telly stuff) then an average movie gets very good.

Heres my home cinema sig.

toshiba 43 inch rpj , sherwood amp and reciver , dts 5.1 and dolby et al , jpl 200 w active sub , pioneer 120 w sat speakers and eclipse centre.Served with ps2 optical.well over 150 dvds to watch.

Highlander. It's got it all - action, story, great music and some really cool one-liners.

It's just a shame that ALL of the follow-ups (including the series) were such pants.

just seen 28 days later on my cinema setup , surprisingly very good for a cheap movie(fox searchlight) , damn near trainspotting with zombies is the minus , hugely better than dog soldiers.

Like the george romeros movies horror is more tense when close to home , in an enviroment you can relate to like in the case of 28 dl is london.

Can anyone remember a series that was similar in the 70s about a virus , I believe it was a euro series not just a brit one.

Sorry to be predictable but I'd plump for Goodfellas

Not the one you are talking about, but the only thing I remember from the late 70's of a similar natures was The Triffids. Big poisonous alien plants. Went around munching on all the humans who had been blinded by a global meteor shower light-show.

Scared me witless as a kid.

It was called DOOMWATCH and it was a laboratory virus spread by jet aircraft when infected people travelled around the place.

One of the characters, Toby, was played by a young Robert Powell. It was quite scary at the time and my favourite programme!
