The single nosiest thing my rig has got to be my CPU fan, a 60mm job that came with the standard heatsink that shipped with the mobo/cpu when I bought it.
Admittedly it’s no where as loud as, for example the Cooler Master X-Dream on my wife’s rig running at medium speed, but it gives a persistent drone which can be a pain when watching streaming movies on the TV.

I’m aiming to reduce noise by changing the fan to a 80mm using a 60-80mm adapter.
Any recommendations for a quality fan that’ll be up to the job, the processor is an XP1700 running at stock speed.
I don’t mind plain black (I’ll be UV lacquering it) or trick looking LED fans, but a reduction in noise would be my highest priority

(I’ve had a look at using a Zalman Flower, but the heatsink on my Leadtek Ti4200 intereferes with the fan mounting bracket.)

Cheers,

Allan.

A personal favourite would be the Panaflo L1A though of late I've opted for Thermaltake Smart Fan 2's because they allow for RPM monitoring and have temperature diode / fan speed controller to enable them to cope with varying case conditions :)

Nice one - I'll definately be considering the Smart Fan - it certainly looks the part :)
