View Full Version : New Honda Advert
Anyone seen it yet? It's pretty cool in my opinion. Not quite sure about the bit where the tires roll UP a slope (probably done with weights), but ah well. You can see it on their website here if you havent:

Yup, a single mass "wow" from everyone. Quite funny actually :D
Very nice advert. Must find a recording, because its probably gunna be banned soon, bloody idiots out there'll complain about anything
Quality! wonder if they used all the parts of the car in it? looks like it, but i'm not a "car" person...
Fing good advert hats off to honda!!!

Was it honda that did the "okay" advert? If it was they are on top form advirtising at the mo :)
yeh it was, but i didnt like that advert seeing as the one major concept behind in was completely flawed. OK may be the most used word, but not in the sense they were talking about. 90% of the time you say OK, you simply mean 'yes'. You hardly ever use it in the way they were talking about.
Just my 2 c

OK
:D
But in any sense it means kinda the same thing:
"That's okay": not too bad, about right...
"You up for going to the pub?" "Yeah, okay": undifferent about it, it's not yes, is more "yeah, whatever..."

It apparently took nearly 300 takes for it to work, they actually setup the whole scene in one go and went from end to end, to stopping cutting and splicing

Well worth it though :D
Although I'd get so pee'd off, like dominos, setting it all up again and again...

Think you missed the point Dunc....the wheels dont really go up the slope (in real life) hence the sentance at the end of the advert...something about dreams.....it was camera trickery.
um, nooo.
I think YOU'VE missed the point. there was no camera trickery, else why on earth would they have done 300 takes! the fact there was no camera trickery IS the point. That's why they are raving on about it being 2 minutes of precision. they are trying to say they put a whole load of work into the advert, just like they did the car.
jeez..

My humble apologies...must be a woman thing.....just cant believe they would go to so much trouble when with today's technology they could have used some trickery. Got some more posts going though! Apologies again....mwah xxxx
Just been looking through the stuff on their website.... apparently it's to show the precision, quality and how genuine it is etc.
May be a lot of time spent for an advert, but thats one is very impressive! Trickery would spoil it and it would be one smooth fluid sequence.... Could have saved them half a year though! ;)

hate to spoil the advert for you but they DID use some computer animation on the advert! :(
the entire sequence was shot on 2 stages, stage one was everything up to the rolling exaust, stage 2 was everthing else!
they had to use some computer graphics to blend in the two difffrent exausts. :)
/me puts fingers in ears.... lalalala! ;)
tho, I just had a scout around (yes I am bored!) and apparently it's one.... I think most sources are convinced they did it all in one take:
Although it would have been much easier to fiddle the chain of events by using computer graphics, the seesaw and shunt of events really did happen, and in one, clean take. from the telegraph (http://www.news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=%2Fnews%2F2003%2F04%2F13%2Fnhonda13 .xml)
...but at the end of the day, 1 part or two, I still think it's bloody impressive!

good advert , my dad wants one now :) . he will prob take the car apart and try to copy the advert :P lol
dave
we all ooh'd and aaaa'd on the IRC channel when we saw this advert, we were all watching the same film when the adverts came on.
Was brilliant the first time i saw the long version, some good thinking went into it so im not bothered if part is done with a computer, it just pure genius. :D

well I read about the Advert in "The SUN" so I'm not taking what they say about two takes at face value :) he! he!
