Vantec VAN-420A Aluminium PSU ?WHICH DO U GUYS RECOMMEND?

Hi guys,

Ive just received a replacment PSU Q-Tec 350w Low Noise PSU it was quiet for the first few mins and then it noise started to get louder and louder .. its louder than the psu i already had in the Neon light case which started making a loud whinning noise seems like the barrings are gone on that one!

im looking at the Vantec VAN-420A Aluminium PSU just want some feedback if anyone is using one of these or any others that are slient!

ps 4got to say my cpu temp has gone up from 55 to 62 since installing the replacment psu which is quite hot when u touch the psu side panel :( what im looking for is a PSu were i can adjust the speed myself

I've just installed this psu into my system, and it's not that quiet; i'm after something more quieter.

If i were to compare it to a noise level, I would say it's about as loud as a network printer (those big-ish ones you see in the offices these days) as it's warming up just before the mechnicals start to print; it's about that level.

what im looking for is a PSu were i can adjust the speed myselfEnermax models with a model code ending in "FMA" have a little dial on the back that you can turn to set the fan speeds. ("FCA" models adjust themselves thermally.) Unfortunately Kustom don't sell them, but they're a popular brand so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one.

I like my Antec (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/product.php?view=1725) - it's nice and quiet. Bear in mind that quiet PSUs generally won't help you get your temperatures down because they don't shift as much air.

Ill etiher go with the Enermax or Antec

quietest PSUs are Zalmans, period.

Antec / Quiet PC are about the same level, but both are slightly louder than Zalman

I'll second what Graeme said...I just bought a Zalman 400w, from Kustom PCs :D, and it is the quietist PSU I have used - and is by far the heaviest also if you discount the redundant PSU’s I’ve used in servers etc.

I have recently gone Zalman mad and also bought their passive VGA cooler for my Radeon 9700 and their new 7000Cu Copper HSF for my P4 2.6…you’d be hard pushed to tell when the thing is turned on now…the nosiest thing is my Maxtor DiamondMax9 120GB drive even though is has fluid bearings.
