Now im a Rangers fan. But i must admit to loving Celtic not only stuff Liverpool 2-0 but outplay them in every department. Maybe all the shouting from the English pundits will stop now when they see that the Celts have beaten Blackburn and Liverpool easily over 2 legs. Infact when was the last time an English team beat Celtic or Rangers. The early 1970 or something like that. Anyway well done Celtic.

I agree with the Fear.

At the Parkhead game, the English commentator remarked on the number of times English teams had played Scottish teams in Europe. I forget the number but English teams had won the overwhelming portion of matches.

But, had he quoted the statistics for English teams against Rangers or Celtic, the numbers would have changed significantly.

Put it this way, I remember watching Celtic win the European Cup in 1967 and since then I remember far more Old Firm victories over English teams than the reverse.

The first modern "Battle of Britain" was between the English Champions, Leeds, and Scottish Champions, Rangers in 1992 for entrance to the first ever Champion's league, result, Rangers won both legs, 2-1 each time.

1970 - European Cup Semi-Final, Celtic vs Leeds and Celtic won. (The attendance for the home match - at Hampden, was over 140,000 and still the 2nd largest ever attendance at a football match anywhere in Europe - the highest attendance - also Hampden)

Nah on the night they wanted it more than us :(

The fans were up for it in a big way . Anfield hasnt been that vocal for as long as I can remember. The problem was the team didnt play as good as they can.

The second goal was a brilliant shot by hartson but the defence was everywhere

Also After the match the ground was still pretty full and we applauded celtic for playing a good game and for their fans been brilliant :D

Celtic outplayed them over the two legs and should have won more convincingly.Simply the better team won. both home and awayCeltic created more chances and attacked with more flair and purpose. Liverpool are only joining the others such as Stuttgart,Blackburn and Ceta Vigo who were beaten by Scotlands Celtic Warriors And the noise at Anfield is nothng like Celtic Park ask Sami Hypia who said it was the greatest noise he had ever heard. But I must admit the Liverpool fans are good lads.

But celtic park holds a lot more fans.

We have not been playing well at the moment. IF we had been firing on all cylinders as we know we can it would have been a different story but on the day celtic played better

i agree, and after the way Man Utd slaughtered them 4-0. All Liverpool fans must agree that they are not really that good.

We played crap on saturday but mr riley does have a very interesting record at old traford doesnt he.

Apropos of nothing, here's Mike Riley's refereeing record for the last five games he has officiated at Old Trafford:

05/04/03 - Manchester United 4 Liverpool 0
Manchester United awarded two penalties.
Silvestre booked.
Three Liverpool players booked and one sent off.

04/01/03 - Manchester United 4 Portsmouth 1
Manchester United awarded two penalties.
No Manchester United players booked.
Two Portsmouth players booked.

07/10/02 - Manchester United 3 Everton 0
Manchester United awarded one penalty.
No Manchester United players booked.
Two Everton players booked and one sent off.

03/09/02 - Manchester United 1 Middlesbrough 0
Manchester United awarded one penalty.
Veron booked.
Two Middlesbrough players booked.

06/03/02 - Manchester United 4 Tottenham Hotspur 0
Manchester United awarded one penalty.
Keane booked.
Three Tottenham players booked and one sent off.

That's seven penalties in five games for United and none for their opponents. Three Manchester United players have been cautioned as opposed to 12 visiting players. Three visiting players have received red cards, while no United player has been sent off. Manchester United have gone on to win all five of those games, scoring 16 goals and conceding but one…

Lets just face it Liverpool are a crap outfit who didnt win in 11 games earlier in the season. Lets face it again, all weve heard from you is sour grapes. A true fan admits when his team just dont have what it takes.

lol.

We have had a nightmare of a season were nothing came off.

As for us being a crap outfit how come for the 2 previous seasons we beat you in every match we played against you.

This season at anfield dudek had an awful game which cost us.

The millenium stadium we outplayed you for the 90 minutes and before you say it was a mickey mouse cup its amazing how gutted your team looked after losing it or how important it was before hand.

IF we finish 4th then we`ll be in the champions league. Depending on the way the next 4 matches go then you could finish off the season with just a champions leage place.

Just out of interest were are you from the fear?

He could ask you the same question Kopite.

And I don't thiunk you outplayed United... not by a country mile.
You got a lucky break - as you usually do against us and have done in most of those 6 victories you cling to...its like its the holy grail to you liverpool suporters, to beat United :p

I live in liverpool thanks.

I have even seen my teams home ground in the flesh.

You have beaten us twice in the last 8 meetings between us. True one of them was the charity shield which is a friendly when you lose it.

The game at anfield we dominated most of it but you got a very lucky break when jerzy messed up.

I was started to respect manure fans earlier this season as they had become the lesser of 2 evils with ****nal now being full of glory hunters but after the way the majority of manure "fans " reacted after the worthington cup was laughable. You talk about sour grapes the way I have been talking I seem to remember many manure fans before the worthington cup talking about how its an important cup and that manure were taking it seriously yet after losing it was just a tin pot.

There was a very good article in the manchester evening news which illustrated just how bitter some fans were.

yeah i`m upset we lost on saturday and i`m upset with the dubious record that Mr riley has in regards to your team. After sammi was sent off the match was over. when biscan was brought on I started crying(He`s in my top 5 worst players to have worn the liverbird imo right up there with kvarme, hyson and sean dundee oh and eric meijer(even though he had more passion that most players in the game nowadays)

AS I have said this season we havent played well at times which is why we are in 6th at the moment. BUt to say we are crap is ridiculous. We beat auxere over 2 legs ****nal didnt and they are supposed to be the best team in the world.

The Fear
08-04-2003, 20:16
now to say you beat us is not true. Im not a Man Utd fan as I stated im from near Glasgow. Im just a fan who knows an average team when he sees it. I also know if you ask fans anywhere who is the better team they will reply Man Utd everytime. The glory days of Liverpool are far gone and even Emlyn Hughes says they are the worst team the shell suits and moustaches have watched for some time in between house breaking and selling dodgy knocked gear. Lol only kidding bout the last bit. But It true about the tuches and shell suits

If we are such a bad team how come before the start of the season all the pundits were saying we would be serious contenders?

How coime even though we had an 11 match period without a win we are still in contention for a cl place.

how come both home and away we held ****nal who are the best team in england to a draw?

We have had a bad season But to say the team is crap is showing your lack of knowledge. we have over 10 internationals in our squad as well as 3 player of the years for their respected countries.

I do agree that at times this season are team has looked bad and The sooner this season is over the better but next season will be a better prospect with pongelle and la tallec in the squad as well as some other signings things should be looking up again

Houllier won't be there much longer, as Liverpool didn't get in the Champions League.

Liverpool could be the best English side, if they got rid of Houllier as the football is so negative most of the time. I think there the only team that I wont watch in the UEFA Cup as the majority of there games are too bland. :D

If we get the signings that the fans want then It will be a different story next year.

Duff on the left, diouf on the right with owen and cisse up front :d

Will give us a far more attacking game which we have lacked this season

johnwibble

I don't think that Houllier is an attacking minded manager. He seems to sell his creative players (Litmanen Berger Fowler etc). I work with a scouse and he is of the same opinion. I'm a Forest fan and can remember the great days of Liverpool (then Forest took over for a few seasons ;) ). In those days if you came back from Anfield with a draw you would be very happy - not so now. The Liverpool of old would have solid defences but they would also be relentless in attack - this is the bit that is so sadly missing today.
I'm only saying all this as I desperately want more Premier League teams to be up there with United. We need 5 or 6 other teams on the same level, and, sadly I can't see Liverpool achieving this with Houllier in charge. Or should that be Geraaaaard Hooooooolier in Scouse talk :D

This is the make or break year if we fail again this year he`ll be out.

He knows that we need to play attacking football and I think he`ll make the change.

You have to remember that he got france to the 98 winning team.

Its all gonna depend on his signings this year
