They're not nearly as quiet as I had expected them to be!
And it was bleeding expensive too!

I'm raging now!

They are quiet compared to the average 60mm cooler.

I think they are worth the moneyh, ive put them in 2 systems and they run cooler than stock fans and are also quieter.

Do you think it would be a good idea to replace the big fan on top with a papst or something?

I wouldnt replace it with a papst because they dont move mutch air.
You could get a 120mm fan and 7v it, it would be quiet and move more air then the sleeve bearing fan it comes with.

another problem with my system is that the big heatsink and the fan on top kind of get in the way of the lead coming from the PSU to the mobo. So this bunch of leads leans against the fan. May be causing extra noise.

sounds like a trip to ur local electronics shop and get some cable ties m8.
I've been contimplaying the flower coolers but was unsure on its db levels when in use.. I may just put a 80mm papsa fan in above the heatsink as a case blowhole.. though am still susure whether i'll bother... Water cooling is out of the question as i cant bare the sight of cables outside my case anyway and having more tubes would make me get really agrivated.
Has anyone tried those quietpc hsf? I've seen some which push the heat up opposed to dows, which i can understant may cause less turbulance and therefore noise, but then again they are only recommended for upto 1.4ghz chips and allthough i have a 1ghz amd i do want to upgrade that to a p4 3ghz, when the price is right (including mobo and mem).

I'm having to leave amd cus i h8 their via chipsets and my audigy2 conflicts.

Then again there are those new-ish alaska hsf, the ones with the led fans, that are supposed to be quiet. I suppose that when the p4 3ghz become affordable there will be a good few more variaties in heatsink / fans to play with.
