This isn't really a rant, since it hasn't bothered me much. But, I think its pretty disgraceful!
I'd never used the open office html editor before, so i loaded up a decent (valid xhtml!) website. Firstly, it was displayed terribly, oh well, thats alright, next on to the html view, that was okay. Then i save it, and guess what happens? It totally destroys my neat and valid xhtml code! totally ruined it, converted it into invalid html 3! Urgh, fortunatly I had a backup, so I didn't spend the next half an hour re-writing the code!
But really, its just awful, it adds in a ridiculous amount of code just by saving a page, I noticed hundreds of useless <font> tags, some useless css, and everything was in ugly caps! At least it got the doctype though..
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN">
:p
So, just a word of warning if anyone was gonna use this to make a website. Don't. Its worse than frontpage, and thats saying something :D
