These 'fill in the questions' and forward to your mates things - is it just me , or is there a lot of these going about?

I've filled in 3 this week that have gone to my hotmail account, I don't know why I do it either :)

Not really a rant I guess, but I'm curious if everyone else is getting these

if you fill them in then they know that the account is active and the company will spread the email address thus making you get more and more spam in that account.

no its not companies, just stuff being forwarded from your mates.

you know, someone fills it in , then forwards it and offers for other people to put in their answers and forward it again etc

ah the chain things, i was about to say, filling in them general questionairs in the post is dodgey enough.

i can never be bothered doing the ones my mates forward to me.

My fiancee and I have several friends who seem to spend all day forwarding crap e-mails. I just delete them and every now and then (usualy when drunk) I spam fire them back with thousands of e-mails containing nothing but the word "pointless". Makes me smile :)

Seems to always be the same people that send them to me, one I'll sometimes send back if i'm extremly bored and the other person I blocked....

On a side note Kynoch, the ones that realise your account is active are those emails from companies with unsubscribe links (often add you to a 'confirmed' list) or the extremly sneaky ones but bloody clever ones where they use an image (usually 1px so you can't see) thats actually a link to a dynamic page which uses the image link as a unique reference to the email they sent you and adds you to a 'confirmed' list. That way as soon as you load the email it requests the image, loading the page and they know you exist. In most languages you can even return a real image after doing this.

Spam gets on my nerves so much, esp as I get a txt message for every email I get! :s

I hate forwards so damn much. Maybe if everybody stopped forwarding them I wouldn't have to lodge large metal objects up the rear orifices of unsuspecting people who do nothing but spam my inbox full of this pointless crap
