View Full Version : 7dB Geforce FX?
Just read, on The Inquirer, that Gainward have stated that their engineers have come up with a Geforce FX Ultra, which has an operating noise level of just 7 decibels... :D
I have no eye deer how they've done it, nor do the Inquirer as it seems Gainward is keeping it close to their chests. But, if Nvidia can sort their drivers out ..... Gainward could look to make a killin'!

hmmm like the silence, but not the price.
The Radeon 9700 Pro is still the king of the cards.

I read something about Gainward doing a water cooled version, sounds like it's the only way to get adaquet cooling at that noise level, so the GF FX ultra is still a stupid card thats not going to sell many.
Kynoch, Herm - Just wait till Nvidia have done their usual driver trick - The Geforce 4 had shocking driver support when it was first being tested.
But as always, Nvidia retrified it... And they will with the FX, I have faith! :D
FX drivers are still very young. I seem to remember that the R9700's drivers were cack until about 2/3 months after they'd got them right. Just wait and see what Nvidia do with the FX's. I'm sure it'll be twice the card onec the drivers mature.
I dont, ive seen on loads of forums ppl arent prepared to spend £450 on a card for starters, plus NVidia wouldnt have shipped the sample cards with cr@p drivers because if all the reviewers get rubbish results with the card they report that back to us the general public, then ppl will not buy the card because the competition has a card that performs as well and even better in a couple of areas for nearly £200 less.
This just isnt like NVidia.

They don't have to now m8 :D
That's the sorta price I too expected em t' be... but (as I've mentioned in another post) a certain UK retailer is now accepting pre-orders on the 256MB DDR2 Sparkle GeForce FX for 'just' £330 incl VAT
Still a lot o' money, but we're talkin' about a 256MB card here ;)
