Broadband - Whats stopping you?
Do i need to say any more?
(Just to mention this isnt exactly my rant, but my brothers - but he feels very strongly about it)

The fact that only 2 people have registered an interest in our exchange (probably me from work and me from home)
The fact that it'd take a good 75% of the homes in our village to want broadband to even come close to meeting a target.
The fact that I don't see NTL trundling past our farm with a cable anytime soon.
The fact that 2-way satelite broadband still costs too much to be feasible for a home install.

I'd quite happily pay a bit more to get broadband, maybe up to £50 month. It really is depressing when telephone boxes and mobile phones can get faster net connections than you can :( :(
Still, there always work to abuse...
cheers

I never quite got the advert where the broadband pipe "bursts". Surely that's not a good thing...
BT- "Look at us. All of our broadband pipes are bursting and you wont be able to connect to the net".
Surely that's a reason not to? In all seriousness though, we got broadband from BT last summer and we haven't had a single problem with the actual service, but we have had constant problems every two months because they keep saying we haven't paid. But we called upon, we say we have a direct debit set up, when it hasn't been. We set one up and next month it happens again, oh you havent set up a direct debit... I can only hope for next month...

Jack sh|+, thanks to Zen :D - lol
Everything, im lucky to have a stable electricity supply here.
But I do get a decent enough dialup connection (49k+)
BT`s Crap customer support stopped me :(
I was informed I could get BB so i applied. Gave my details they cancelled by dialup account and changed it over to a bb account and told me that it would be installed on a set date. I take the day off work and no sign on bt engineer I ring up and am told that I should have received a letter telling me it wouldnt be installed as the distance was too long
About 6 -8 months later I`m told that i`m in range for radsl I ring up place the order they take my details give me a date and tell me it will be installed. I take the day off uni to get it installed this time. Wait all morning no sign mid afternoon i ring up and am told that its not going to be installed because the line quality isnt good enough and I should have received a letter.. They tell me I could get a second line installed but this might not remedy the problem.
My new gf have get telewest cable though so I`ll get her to buy that and then dl loads at hers :D

I'd sell my soul to the devil to have broadband. Maybe thats almost as bad as paying BT for the privlige?
Anyone seen the new "anytime" advert?
This womans on the couch with her family and she says "With BT anytime we get 150 hours a month of surfing time"
I was like "err........not exactly anytime then is it?"

i got broadband....lol and it "is" superfast most times...
telephone boxes are class5 whatever that means
well it means mainly the telephone box will stay conected and be usable in war... when all the rest or the phones are not conected....eg in the news a few years ago there were a bomb scare at ascot race co****...all the mobiles in this area and all the land lands were switched off by the supplier....but phone boxes worked...lol
i got bt bb and it's great! only had problems with kazaa affecting my connection got rid of it - tech support is great,
get 576kb connection speed - not to bad imho
wanna get 1Mb connection but no cable companies on my road!!

i wish they did - i work for Telewest - and i can get the 1meg for free - time to move house!!!
you would not believe i am moving and my new place has cable you 1mb here i come!
I got lucky ,some sort of government initiative(!) called 'actnow' actually implemented BT broadband in Cornwall before anyone else, AND paid £230 for installation AND knocked £10 a month off for two years!!!
you have to be a business user-I told them I built computers at home-BINGO.
downside is you pay vat-upside is better service:)

I remember last year sometime, there was some kind of giant pink hippo emerging from the ground in Buchannan Street, Glasgow...after it had been there about a week, a sign was put up indicating it was advertising BT Broadband.
