Right, i'm sure you've all gots lots fo stories of stupidly morally indefensible things you have done in cars or on bike, so why not share them with us all?
Like the time you drove your pure dead mental 1.2 nova down the M6 at 190 mph... :-)
or even some true stories?
anyone?
Is a perfect chance to brag.
For starters, anyone beaten my time from carlisle to ayr, via dumfries?
61 and a bit mins...

lol, that nova comment reminds me of someone I knew, who used to always have loads of driving stories that were heavily over the top ...
would be like
'yeh i was going to college this morning in my Astra at 150mph then this guy cut me up and i spun around 25 times , went through a field , ran over a horse then got on the road again and kept going..'
ok so that's not quite true , but it just seemed like that !
Although we didn't get taken to see the aftermath of one scene , where a set of tyremarks on the grass were about an inch away from one of those big salt bins that sit near the side of the road :)
Only scary moments I can think of involved trying to overtake on a B road with a 954cc AX... very nearly had a head-on once at 70mph !! Was too close for comfort...

Well I was driving a beach buggy thing made from the axles and engine of a mini with a purpose made chassis, built by my uncle. I had been driving it for about 10 minutes and was about to let someone else have a go so I decided one last time round on the beach but a little further and faster. Unfortunatly when I went to turn the back end dug into the wetter sand that was further out, instead of sliding like it had done every time before. Over it went, rolling about 3 times. My right arm was flung out from the force and as the top of the roll cage came into contact with the ground my arm was trapped between the two. I ended up with my forearm broken on both bones near the elbow and one of them near the wrist. Not a pretty sight seeing your arm flop down into your lap when you let go of it but don't actually move your elbow. I now have two metal plates in my arm and had two metal pins in my wrist for a while. Thanks to my skin reacting with the bandages after they cut me open to put the plates in I now have a huge scar along my forearm, I ended up getting a skin grapht for it and the scar tissue has attached itself to the tendants to my fingers meaning I can't pull my thumb back very far, although grip is fine.

OIY, I have a 1litre polo, it may have a serious lack of power but you can still overtake. You just need a little more skill at judging speeds :p

my AX hit 100 once.
yes and it still worked afterwards :)
Was a bit noisy though...
Back in 1976 when the motorways were built but the White cap Gestapo weren't so prominent, you could do a decent lick. I joined the M8 motorway at Riddrie and reached the end of the M1 at London in 4 hours 25 minutes. I was driving a JPS Capri (the first black car in quite a long time). This included only one 10 minute stop for petrol.
I must have been in a hurry though I forget why.

I remember leaving clapham, central london at 5 oclock on a friday afternoon, and parking up in ayr before 10, that was driving a diesel punto.
didnt drop below 120 (on the speedo) from the m25 to manchester.
Mind you, it was new years eve, and the roads were quite quiet
I once travelled wi a real psycho driver when i worked in IBM ...1 night going up for a fri nightshift OT starting at 9 ..we were going passed nardini's at 9 the car was parked and we were in the factory for 10 past 9 .....the car was only a 1.8SRi astra..
BUT then again that was the same guy that overtook a BMW 520i at 120 just as we coming up to the slip road to get into the factory ...in a short distance he braked from 120 to 20/25 to go up the slip ( go up at 35 and u slid all over the place )..i think that night me and the other 2 passengers were hitting the virtual brake pedal

which cliff? :):)
Hows about this then.
I was on the m53 about to join the m56.
Now just before were the m56 turn off is there`s another road that joins so it goes from 2 lanes to 3 lanes then 2 lanes off to the m56 and 2 lanes left on the m53. So I was coming up to the turn off doing 70 and some cars come on the other road so I move into the outside lane to get past them. I`m in the outside lane now just about to overtake them when the espace who has already pulled into the middle lane pulls into the offside lane. I have to slam on spinning the car and End up facing the wrong way in the middle of the motorway. I **** my pants. What made it even worse is the espace didnt even stop to check I was alright. But then it did have french plates on and they do have an interesting driving style

hehe, even my 10 year old 1litre polo has hit 100mph, did 95 trying to get to Kustom today  not for long though, stupid traffic, they don't seem to realise smaller cars can overtake.

My Mitsubishi Estate is good fer 150mph  :D
That's tops of course... but I've had it to 130mph... wi' 4 o' me (ex? :D) m8's in it... and it woz still pullin' at that (I had t' slow down fer a stupit bend in the road) :p
It's a twin-turbo VR4 mind you, so you'd expect it t' be pretty nippy, but those kinda figures ain't bad fer a (second-hand) estate car eh ;)
//wonders if he'll still manage t' squeeze outta the bedroom door now, what wi' the size o' his heed :D
the speed doesnt matter as the legal limit is 70 unless u wanna loose ur license...all cars can do more than their book top speed ...my wee car is only a 1.6i astra top speed 118mph ( ive only had it upto 110mph and engine was only at 4k revs red line disnae start till 6.5 ) yet m8 had same ingine in his astra blew the cylinder head at 130mph ...plus alot of cars have speed limiters these days ..my wee cousin found that out in uncles vectra Di when he hit 120mph ...Look at the audi RS range ..all limited to 155 yet the rs4 can hit 190 the RS6 even more ....the 1st RS2 was able to do 165 AND it was estate form only ..
Pete you lost me there started on 70mph bit and then told us youve done 110?
Did I say on the road?
At the end of the day if you dont want saftey and comfort ditch the car and get a bike!

My friend almost wrote off his saxo overtaking at 90 on road between Mossblown and Mauchline coming up to a corner. Braking hard he lost the back end and spun about 3 times, ripping off the front bumper and almost ending on the roof.
I got banned for driving on the pavement on Bedford Embankment because i was chasing this dude I had a run in with. The little grass reported me to the old bill.
I span my pug twice, driving home from a mate's at 3 am, was going a bit fast, and my reaction-time could have been measured in weeks...
Aproaching a bend at 65, realise there are chevrons and a cliff to contend with, brake a little too hard, lose back end. Yank wheel hard over in the hope the chevrons will stop me before i go over the cliff.... watch life flash before my eyes .... realise ive span twice and am facing the wrong way, but still have a pulse.
The car wasnt even scratched, thou it must have hit the verge, because the back half was covered in mud.
Since then, Ive calmed down a little, so who says boy racers dont learn!

I was on the M1 southbound, just past Leicester Forest services, when a HGV in the nearside line lost a tyre.
At the point, the M1 is 4-lanes wide on either carriageway.
I saw the tyre bouncing towards me and totally shát myself. I could take no evasive action bar braking as all four lanes had traffic.
The tyre missed me, by a massive margin, and bounced across all four lanes before hitting the crash barrier on the central reservation, whereupon it bounced into the air, maybe six or seven feet high.
Amazingly, the tyre hit no-one, but my heart was in my mouth for the next half hour and I bet I wasn't the only one. :)
I rolled my 309 a couple of weeks, back, lost the back end on a corner and found myself bouncing down the oposite verge at 60mph.
Made the mistake of trying to get it back onto the road, rather than aiming for the field, front wheel dug in and it rolled 4.5 times, sliding to a halt on the roof in the end!
I was fine, with a cut finger, and a bruise on my forehead from where i faceplanted the roof, when i hit the seatbelt release.

lol, my 1043cc 1988 polo has got to just over 100mph. the speedo only goes up to 100 and it was off the scale. felt more like 200 with all the wind noise.
by comparison i did 115-120mph~ in a bmw 325i and i felt more like 60mph!
i'm no boy racer but sometimes your just in the mood for a little excitement.

I did Birmingham to Newcsatle, bout 230 miles, in 2 & half hours once in my 60bhp Renault 5. Nothing like low traffic levels at 1 in the morning.

Once got 115-ish out of a diesel Clio. Not 100% sure of the speed, the car was rattling too much. Took a 5 mile straight piece of road to get that speed up.
Fastest I've ever gone was 135 in a diesel Laguna, going down the Glenshane Pass. This is about 2 miles of steep hill, totally straight. The steering wheel nearly shook off due to the unbalanced wheels, and the big mud-guard under the engine ripped off and disappeared. :)
More mad stories later, have ot go to work now. :p

As promised:
1. Same little white Clio, was going round this big sweeping bend that goes through a bit of a valley. At the bottom of the valley on my side of the road was a junction with a wide grass verge.
So, I'm half way down the hill and this other car coming the other way decides to overtake, sees me waaaay too late and tries to stop.
No way I was going to be able to stop, so I took to the grass. Hit the kerb on the way on at 60, across the grass which was wet and about 3 foot high. That totally covered the windscreen in wet grass seed. So I point the car in the general direction of the road, not touching the brakes as I'd end up over the hedge if I tried to brake. So, on I go, smashing across the two kerbs on that wee road to the left, back across more wet grass, and across ANOTHER kerb back onto the road!
Managed to get the wipers going, drove on a wee bit and stopped. Got out after brushing all the dust, loose change and stuff that had been bouncing around the inside of the car.
Only damage was two bent rims and the shocks at the front had gone right through and dented the bonnet. Suspension settled down after a few miles, and I sorted the rims out with a club hammer when I got home.
2. Totally killed a 1.8 16v Vectra 10 times in a row doing traffic-light grand prix. I was driving a 1.1 106. It was a fairly wet night.
Going round the outer ring in Belfast with two of my housemates in the car. The two other guys are 22 stone and 13 stone, I'm 11 stone. Oh, and we had a new microwave in the back which wasn't light.
Got to the first lights, was beside this old bloke and his wife in the Vectra. I take off at my normal speed (I go fairly rapidly in 1st and 2nd to the speed limit then hit 5th). So Mr Vectra come burning up beside at the next lights, revving and whatnot, creeping forwards. So I decide to plant it, just for the laugh. Amber, I'm off like a whippet, red line in 1st and 2nd, Mr Vectra is two car lengths behind spinning like mad. My little 165 Uniroyal rain tyres are doing their job well. Get to next lights, anchors on, stop a foot before the line. Mr Vectra goes steaming past ABS banging away. Stops half way across junction, has to reverse. :) Rince and repeat all the way round the ring, managed to get through one set of lights well infront of him.
So, with skilled driving techniques and the right tyres you too can beat a 110hp 16v car off the lights in a heavily laden 65hp 8v tin box.
3.
No so skilled driving on my part this time, cut up a lorry on a roundabout, caught his front corner on the back corner of my car. His bumper went under my back wheelarch, ripping the back bumper of my car to shreds, and bending the lorry bumper out 90degrees.
So, car is going into the repair place on the 27th for new back quarter panel, inner mudguard, back bumper and probably new axle. Ouch, £300 excess on insurance, and as it was my fault big premium next year no doubt.
Got to say though, out of all the cars I've driven, the '00 Astra I have now has been the most solid. It's taken two fairly havy crashes in the past few months and ended up with fairly minor damage. In both crashes, the other vehicle has ended up with more damage.
