I bought one of these (http://www.proton-usa.com/remote/src2010.htm) the other day. Well cool and lights up blue like my case!

I have a seperate IR receiver plugged into my machine (one of these (http://www.portable.co.uk/PRODUCTS/Cataloguehtml/Greenwich%20inst.htm)) so just need to figure out how to program them to work together so I can control my computer... Seen software for *Nix OS's but not Windows yet..

wizbongre, would like to hear how you are getting on programming this. I assume you intend to store the main functions from your other remotes onto this one.

I have a tosh TV and DVD + 2 Sony hi-fi's and a mitsubishi video and the kids have a tv and vid too. I'd like to remote control the PC too.

I have alway's been put off with the all for one as you can't manage the codes via a PC but this one seems a reasonable price and you can manage it via the PC.

Cheers mate ;)

I've been loking for a program like that as well. I've got the USB gIRbil, and all the programs i've seen (including girder) only offer support for serial connections. Anyone seen anything out there?

Thanks for the link to Girder - will give that a go...

I'm lucky in that I have the old serial version of the Girbil so hopefully will be okay with it.

With regard to programming the remote....

Its better than I thought it would be, now that I have gotten used to it. I had intended to do all of the programming and interface design with it plugged into the computer but it takes bloody ages uploading and downloading the data (well, more than 10 seconds anyway!) And besides, after a bit of playing it is just as easy to do all of the layout stuff using the remote itself. I have been using the stylus from my Palm PDA to make things a bit quicker and easier but you shouldn't need to.

I am in the process of programming my gear (Goodmans TV, Technics hifi seperates, Goodmans Vid and Sony playstation DVD player!) So far got the TV completed and half way through the hifi. It works great with the hifi but is a bit funny with some of the commands for the telly, but I suspect this is because it is a cheapo tv with an even cheaper remote!! The macro functionality is pretty useful - I only have to press one macro button now to switch to BBC1, open teletext and jump to page 606 (tv now and next!) which is something I am always doing to see whats on. Also programmed it so that I can press one button and the TV, Vid and HiFi all come on together with the tv going to the AV-in channel and the hifi going to the vid input. Will do the same for the PS2/DVD.

I'm hungry now so will stop rambling - if you want to know anything else about it just shout!

You seen the remotes the osbournes use , they are pretty awesome. The have built in tvs , yes you can watch tv on the REMOTE.

If you are considering a VERY customising one that isnt like ozzys £2K one, you cant get better than the pronto by phillips , check out richersounds they have em at 100 or 150 with dock if i remmber correctly.

the remote ozzy uses is a Crestron (http://www.crestron.com/default2.asp), amazing piece of kit, the pronto is one beast of a remote, you can get codes for a lot of appliances from out on the net already (here (http://www.remotecentral.com)), and it can learn from your own remotes aswell. LetsAutomate (http://www.letsautomate.com) sell these, and the pronto pro, a colour version, they come in about 150 or 200 for the recharging dock, and the pronto pro is 500 quid! after using them tho, it's hard to go back

a nice alternative for anyone with a palm os palmtop is OmniRemote from Pacific Neo-Tek (http://www.pacificneotek.com/) i love it, goes about 30 feet from my handspring visor IR port
