Is it a waste of time, or does anyone watch/ or enjoy it?

Waste of time IMO without Murray Walker. Martin Brundle & the other commentator simply do not have the same charismatic draw as old Murray did.

I'm not that keen on Formula 1 - IMHO most races are won or lost on qualifying and pit-stops... Touring Car Racing always seemed more exciting - lots of cars going very fast bumper to bumper all the way :)

I like watching it. It passes the time. Its generally on TV on sundays when theres bugger all else to do and nothing else worth watching unless like my mum you love the antiques Roadshow.

F1 was good but now sucks, however the new season could be interesting for the first few races with the new rules as traction control and the launch control are being removed.

Touring cars is great though - just needs to be on TV more

I also heard there's a new qualifying rule.

Yeah theres no access to the cars between final qualifying and the race and another new rule is that the spare car cant be used

I also heard that if you stuff up one of your laps by spinning off, you start at the back of the grid. Is this correct, as I heard it in a short interview with Jenson Button on Sky Sports at BAR's launch, or have I mis-heard him?

Last year I started work, which involved working on Sundays, so I'd watch the taped races. Half way through it was so boring I ended up just watching the highlights.

This year though, as many have said, things hopefully will change. No telemetry, where they fix the cars whilst they are on track. There is a qualifying rule as well.

From itv-f1.com: The FIA plans to create a more level playing field by introducing standard parts from 2004 such as braking systems, rear wings and maybe even electronic control units.
It looks like they are making it more and more like the yank's indycars which, i believe, all use the same engine etc...

Hopefully be better than last years championship. :)

When does that 1 engine per race rule come into force?

FragAlot

In 2005 you have to make the engine last 2 races

At least that rule will help out the teams with the lesser budgets.

Hopefully they'll have the same rule as they do in touring cars.

If they break an engine during qualifying their times are discounted and start at the back of the grid.

Would shake it up a bit then.

I kinda went off F1 in the past year due to the total dominance of Michael Schumacher and ferrai. It was just obscene :(

You knew who was going to win every race and if it was Michael it was Barrachello. Juan Pablo Montoya looked good but coundn't really compete.

These new rule changes seem like a good idea, but already some of the manufactures have said they will try to over turn some of them.

So, overall we will have to wait and see.....Watch this space

 Oh dear god! Montoya is great, Schumacher isn't the only good driver. Saw Montoya him in the indy cars when he won that in his last year and was spectacular. Unfourtunately, Schumacher is good, has a big powerful team behind him and is extremely lucky... A deadly combination...

I don’t want to get into the anti Ferrari thing at the end of the day they didnt have the biggest budget in F1 last year, but what they did have last year was the right car, it was the slower Mclarens and Williams that were at fault for screwing up in the design..

Basically the tracks are getting to be the issue for me they just don’t allow for a good old fashioned racing... they need to make the circuits more demanding.

Re the cars they need to find a way to make a slipstreaming car have an bigger advantage than the leading car that would make it interesting.

I don’t like the reduction in spend, this is from a development point of view – a lot of the mod gadgets we love in our road cars come from advances in F1 - one thing that will be stuffed because of this is ceramic engine parts very interesting science now banned!

I agree it has gone stale. It's a shame we never got to see a few seasons of Senna v Schumacher - now that would have been exciting

Senna... now there was a driver!

adding to my last post... what about a season with Senna, Schu and Montoya in it - wow I'd watch every race then. We need another great driver to come through to F1 to make it more interesting.

i like the way all the posts change once the new rules have been enforced! I liked F! but never watched it, but now i watch it cause theres more crashes and its def more exciting. I don't think the drivers like the new rules but ill give them more respect for winning these races than the old skool ones!
