We've had a loan of nVidia's 3D Vision kit previously - actually, we gave it the first public showing in the UK at a Multiplay i-series LAN last Easter, but it's on permanent display at our shop in Ayr now if you fancy a shot.

With an nVidia graphics card, a 120Hz monitor (eg Samsung SM2233RZ (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_6023.html) or Viewsonic VX2268WM (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_6028.html) and the 3D Vision Kit (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_6024.html) you can get a stereoscopic view of must current games.

The nVidia drivers, upon enabling stereoscopic mode draw two alternate views - with the monitor refreshing at twice the rate of a typical 60Hz TFT, the left and right 'eyes' are drawn alternately. To unassisted vision, this looks like two permanent images. With the 3d Vision glasses in place, these polarise the left and right eyes in sync with the screen refresh, so that the left eye sees the left image while the right eye is effectively blanked off and vice versa.

The speed of this is outwith of the threshold of your eyesight so looks perfectly stable with the glasses in place.

The resulting impression of depth is amazing - zoom to scope in Call of Duty and it feels like the gun jumps out of the screen toward you and cars in Race Driver GRID are more solid looking. It takes a little bit of time to adjust to, with your eyes normally used to looking at a flat representation of a screen, but it really does work quite well.

Feel free to ask for a shot of the 3D vision kit when visiting our store in a game of your choice !
