Hi guys

I bought one of these: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2875.html

And I absolutely love it. But the fourth fan controller (furthest on the right) has stopped functioning correctly. When you turn it there seems to be little resistance compared to the other three, and it's basically turned off or if you turn it all the way to the right it is on 100%. This kind of defeats the point of the fan controller...

It worked wonderfully up until now, nothing special has happened except on one cold bootup the fan didn't turn on (sometimes happen as I have them as low as they run, 660rpm, so need extra volts to start running) so turned it up a bit but there was no resistance, when it started it went straight to max power.

Is this likely to be a mechanical issue requireing an RMA (and me banging my head against the desk) or is it possible a wire has come loose... I was surprised at the 'looseness' of it though - although I seldom alter them unless like I'm overclocking or gaming at a LAN because 660rpm seems to cool adequately. (for the likes of internet surfing)

Help :(

I think it's fallen over completely now :(

Takes to Graeme about it. If it's in warrant you should be able to get a replacement.

Yea I will do tomorrow but would like if possible to work out a way to fix it as it's just the one dial that seems to be on the blink. I've unplugged the fan for now and my friend who is a bit more knowledgeable than me will have a look later. Because all the fans in my system including the CPU are hooked into it, it will be a big headache to be without the controller (although feasibly I could plug the fans into the motherboard and just whack them on 7 volts.)

It also seems wasteful if it is an easy fix to ship it back to kustompc who will ship it back to scthe and then send a new one to me.

My friend had a quick look and said that it shouldn't have done that (like, it's not a common fault for example), and it probably is repairable (he said it was just a diode) but not by me because it's likely to be a sealed unit or something.
