My front panel USB and audio sockets aren't working. :(

I've got an ECS motherboard with connectors for I think it's four sets of USB ports. I've pluged two pairs in and they don't work. Neither do the audio sockets, any idea why? The PWR and Reset buttons work as do the LEDs, no brakes in the wires ect.

Any ideas?

Are you 100% sure they have the same pinout? They should both use standard pinout but you never know

Might need switching on in the BIOS. :)

That would be my bet also.

Are you sure you've plugged the USB cables into the USB sockets, not the FireWire ones?

Simple, I know but RTFM?

Manual doesn't say anything about it. Will check BIOS in a min, thanks guys. The PC takes AGES to boot, I.E checking the IDE drives as I'm using IDE ATM not SATA.

Taking ages to check drives usually means inpropper jumper/cable configuration, so I'd check that first.

As for the front panel, I've yet to use a motherboard that didn't say about front panel headers...re-read that manual, slowly.

Lol, just gotta find the manual now. Sorry, I know it's bad but I read the manuals last lol. The front USBs are working now, dunno why, just gotta check the audio.

My front panel audio still fails. The USBs are going which is nice, but I would like the audio, connected OK but not working. Suggestions?

This is probably a long shot, but I'll throw it in anyways.

If the case is old, the FP audio headers probably only support AC97 audio. If your mobo is quite new, chances are it's FP audio is outputting in a HD format.

The two don't mix.

Worth looking into.

Damn, it is.

No way of converting? They are exactly the same ports as behind, I thought it was just an extension. Looks like I'll be buying a couple of bits and modding the case then.
