Is it unusual to bring a PC/monitor to uni halls or do lots of people do it?

I don't really want to by a laptop as I don't really have the money and also I think it will be a waste if i leave the PC at home just sitting at my desk.

A lot of people take their computers to uni. You'll get a desk!

Some of my friends have taken laptops to uni but i think if you are only going to use your laptop in your room you might as well get a computer. Some of them also have monitord and keyboards that they plug their laptop into.

A laptop wouldn't have been powerful enough for my course when I was at uni. Everyone in my flats (and actually everyone I knew) had atleast a pc (and a laptop in some cases). It's normal.

That's what I thought. I don't really need it for my course but I'd like to have it around seeing as when I'm home I spend 90% of my time on the PC.

Don't think I'll be bringing my speakers though, the subwoofer alone is almost twice the size of a desktop PC. Hmm, but that that might be good for parties...

Lots of students go for a laptop since it's smaller and takes up less space in the more 'compact' hall rooms. Also you can (intend) to take them to lectures/the library to work. Definitely a must if you're doing a computer course, but by no needs necessary for anything else.

I'm at uni and I have five computers and a laptop, along with 24", 19" and 15" monitors, a 26" HDTV, two stereos and a 5.1 system.

So, yeah. Bring whatever you want ;)

I'm bringing a laptop for halls, might bring my PC as well if I need to but don't think so, OFC when I move out of halls I will be using both.

I'll be living at home but I will be taking my laptop with me to uni as I am doing computer since. I'd also like to find out if I can share my processor's workload with some of their servers. If not I'll just ssh to home and use the servers here.

It might be an idea to get a decent pair of headphones and give you great sound and bass as well and feeling comfortable for long periods (like when writing an essay, whilst listening to music of course).

If you're on any kind of a decent Computer Science course then the machines you'll have SSH access to will be far more powerful/useful than the machine you may have at home. Especially if you end up doing any High Performance Computing, then you might get to play on the really fun stuff.
