Sound volume Problems

When im using Windows Media Player, the volume of any audio track i play seems to go up and down very slightly and it is very annoying. the sound card is x-fi xtreme audio with logitech x540 speaker setup.

Any ideas anyone

Volume changing during each song... or just each song is a slightly different volume?

during any song, the volume goes up and then down slightly and i sounds crap. when i play games its fine, its any of my songs im media player

I'm not sure about Media Player, but iTunes has a Sound Check option which automatically plays each song at roughly similar volumes. Some sound louder than others when it's checked...?

You havn't got "quiet mode" enabled have you? Does it do the same in other media players?
