Apple are giving customers in Europe an unique experience to the way Apple view the world Economy.....

If you sign up for a trial for "Mobile Me" they take debit cards details to prove your identity. (Ed. Can you guess where this is going??)...

In it's Terms and conditions Apple Quotes:
Apple may seek authorization of your Credit Card account prior to your first purchase to validate that you can charge the applicable fees to access the Service. This authorization amount is typically the equivalent of one US dollar ($1USD).

Guess users surprise when they find out their debit card is now £121 lighter....

Yup! in Apple's World the US economy is so strong the US$ is worth £121.

If you want your money back you gotta cancel before the end of the trial (and wait nearly a week!). otherwise you've signed up for the service for 18 months!..

Yeah Mobile Me is pretty screwed up at the moment. They had to release it before it was really ready, as it ties in with the iPhone and App Store.

But for the features it offers, for £59 a year, once its up and running properly I'll be more than happy to buy it.

Just think of the hate this would spark off if Microsoft did anything like this, but of course due to the religion like grip apple have over many, not a great deal will happen.

Know what you mean, I bought the 'Cult of Mac' book and its amazing what Mac guy's/gal's do - work in a PC store for free and try and sell Macs LOL! Mind you, wouldn't mind an Apple tattoo on my arm!

As far as MobileMe goes tho, yep rushed to market and for the 18 mth subscription if you don't cancel Microsoft would be slated for this and its a pity Apple can release unfinished work, sell it and get away with it.
I'd rather have a .mac account than a .me one personally.

Yes the apple colt is quite incredable, just goes to show, you can sell any crap with the right marketing. A quick example, the email client on mobile me looks remarkably like Hotmail/Microsoft live :D Again, reverse the situation and you'd have apple claiming at some conferance they have been copied.

I belive that mobile me has replaced .mac, for new subscribers.
