Spore Creature Editor

Found out that EA had released a creature editor for spore today which you could download and have a play with, there was a trial version which gave you 25% of the items and a full version which costs £4.99 which allows you to have all the little things, however recently I can't find the trial version unless they took that down for some reason.

I'd suggest getting the £4.99 v full version as you can claim that £4.99 back when you purchase the full game of spore, however I purchased the full version and it still says "pre-order...due for release 17/06/2008" so I'm just waiting to be able to download it.

You can create a creature and you can let it walk around a small area and make it do certain things like dance, call out, look happy, look sad etc etc, as shown at the bottom of the screen in my screenshots.

been playing with this since lastnight :) i love how they've integrated the youtube thing into it :) very good.
its so bloody addictive lol
altho i'm hoping they bring a little more complexion with the full game tbh from the first videos the creations aren't quite as 'wow' as i was hoping.
there's already a torrent out there to enable about 75% of the items in the game lol, i love it :) just can't wait for spore!!

Why do you have to pay for an editor... the game interests me but im not falling for that.

you pay for the editor but you can claim it back when/if you purchase the main game when it's released....something tells me EA arn't going to lie about something like that.

You pay for the editor because it is most likely quite a large part of what the game will entale.

look at my pictures at the top, you'll notice at the bottom right where there are 3 tabs theres an egg, click on that and in that tab click on all 3 eggs and the babies will appear.

I'm really annoyed with EA :(. In this day and age of eco-friendliness, I would like them to explain to me why, as a customer who bought the Creature Editor to show my enthusiasm, I only get a £5 discount code for the full game via electronic (download) distribution?

So I can get the game from EA via download, with no packaging, media or distribution costs and all the good things for the world that go with that - for £35.

Or I can hop onto gameplay and get it on DVD, shipped to my door, for 25 notes... where is the incentive to help the planet here?

It seems to be a pattern with the online distribution atm. I recall reading an article talking about steam where they said that the reason the games are the same price/slightly more expensive for digitial download is so that the publishers and traditional game shops dont feel threatened.

Digital download is the future :D Saying that though I bought the galactic edition from game and will be playing it tonight :D

The problem with pages like amazon is that ppl can skew results on there. if a site had a gripe its possible to get all their members to slate something. Remember that psychologist who slagged off computer games?

its friggin awesome i lost 7 hours to it today and thoroughly enjoyed it! i've not done that on a game for a LONG time.. just cracked the space stage and it looks bloody epic! lol

Mines my username I pretty much got the hang of the space age now, I just go in with a shield up and let my allied ships protecting me whilst I take over other civs homeworlds as they generally have lots of colonies ;) i.e. more spice production and more cash

THis game should get game of the year easy.

Thing is its like so many great games all combined into one , sure theres niggles and things that could have been perfected but I can live with them.

Its any hoover game like pacman at the begiiing , with a hint of tamagochi.Maybe even a hint of an rpg and that sort of evolving your character.

Its like warcraft and command and conquer in the middle.

And lastly its like elite , and im sure there was similar games to that vein even before that.

Im having one problem and thats terrforming , changing one planet from to-t1 was easy being given the tools to do it.But im stuck at how to get to to t3.Other thing is you have one ship then attacked by several , is the multi ships an upgrade or can you make a fleet.

The only annoyance i have is that you cannot set up cities other than just placing buildings and turrets later on , I would have liked to be able to buy units like planes to defend areas too.

Terraforming is **** easy once you get to a legendary classed ship which has the built in abilities for terraforming. It is however much easier to find other players that are in Civ or tribal mode and do some exterminating or take over another inter-galactic powers home world then you usually get 5 free colonies with the planet unless you destroy them.....

I haven't figured out if you can build multiple ships I am close but haven't quite completed it. As you go up in command skills though you get more powerful weapons and can form a fleet with allied ships atm I am legendary and have 3 allied ships. There is also an autocannon that you can buy which will take out any ship below 250 (pirate health) in one shot that comes within range. I personally just let my allies handle the ships whilst I pop up a shield and lay waste to the colonies only capturing them if they have been previously terraformed and are spice production ready.

I am rather bored of having to go to each star system to collect spice, If I do my full rounds of my colonies I end up with 50+ of pink/blue/red/yellow spice but it takes seemingly forever.....

How do I add friends I found the buddy section on the main menu but couldn't add anyone after finding there pages am I missing something :s

lol, yea you could say alot but i guess about 30hours of my life has been deticatedto that game......i have to ask, i dont know how to start a war on anyone other then the computer, how to i go agaisnt other players?? of course we would all be a clan :) that sounds like a great idea, if only i knew how to do it :rolleyes:

I think we have to do it unofficially as I can't find any clan tools. I have only found computers so far, I just jumped through a wormhole and blew up the grox homeworld with a planet buster :D:D:D needless to say they aren't too happy with me :(. With the hype of the game they said you could interact with other players or perhaps they just meant creature creations. My homeworld is at the bottom tail of the galaxy anyone near there I will come visit and promise not to destroy you lol???

This game is a life stealer , started playing yesterday at 5 , stopped at 3 am.Kept starting again every time i was under attack as was getting it jail style....ie seriously fxxxxd.

Assuming of course that I had one to steal.

For hours I just stave off attacks on home , slowing building up a nearby star system.

I think i have the terraforming idea now , can you use just any species of plant and animal in each t form , as long as they are different from the ones in the previous t form?

erm i guess you can, i mean i noticed you can just click on the little circuls next to the t grid and it will highlight and flash any items or creatures you have that fit it :) so i guess you would be right on using different creatures/plants aswel, try it you might get lucky :) lol erm @ saltynay thats really odd as im near the top of the universe thing! hm, so does anyone know if there is a way to interact with others??? id like to go make some REAL planet friends ;)

You can edit other civ or tribe creatures by buying the creature tweaker I haven't done it as I prefer to just destroy everything and claim the planet but I would imagine there would be a reason to edit another civ's creature...... such as they become an instant ally or pay you tribute

I never know what to call them so I just put something random.

I just started a new one, in the creature stage atm, but I called the species "fail", just so when someone sees one of the huge ones and clicks on it to see it's name it will come up saying "epic fail". :D

spore seems cool, but i would never pay for a game that restricts instolation and i want to upgrade my pc soon, so i would have to rebuy a copy. shame realy, i heard it was fun.

Just tried using the creature tweaker tool and it killed the creature............... 450,000 sporebucks down the drain and still haven't found out what it does will have to buy a new one :)
