Hey I've just got this game. It looks awesome and very fast pace. It throws you straight into the action when you start your career. A cool thing I've noticed is that when you type in your name it will look for names that match are came close to it. It calls your by your name and not a name of a character. Also it doesn't have some crappy plot either.

I like it alot. Really immersive. Gotta use a controller though, can't stand Keyboard controls for driving games anymore.

I love the drifting element, to me it's the first game thats fully incorporated into the game, properly anyway.

Got the demo on my PC today, so thought I'd comment...

Really really like it... I really wanted a driving game newer than my old copy of CMR3, and something that wasn't fantasy like NFS...

It seems to be a lot of work to set up my game pad to the right sensitivity... steering is really twitchy... Need to tinker with the settings some more.

I reckon I might buy the full version though... it really is immersive! The replays at the end of the race are epic, and if you've got surround speakers set up right, the sound is fantastic...

Not convinced about the flash back thing, I hate slow-mo / undo features on games, they just take away the realism again.

That being said, some gamers do really have anger management issues when they're frustrated

got this for ps3 and LOVING IT :D there is a genuine 24 hour race! several of em!! i didn't know that was even in it :D
it has frozen on me once though, during a load, and the demo did also freeze during a replay but tbh considering how much i've been playing it.. nothing really in that.
seriously love it :)

Got it last week and am absolutely addicted!! I started with the career stuff but now find myself playing online a lot!! One problem though is that it does tend to lag if the action gets a bit hectic which is not ideal as you end up crashing most of the time. :D

Such a good game. I use my xbox pad with it and am so chuffed. Thing is though it brings out the evil driver in me...cant seem to go a lap without barging someone off the course.

Yea, I'm trying to race realistically, but it's so easy to side swipe cars that are in your way ;)

Sub- I've got some issues with the demo here and there too, but again, nothing major.

Think I might add this to my to-by list :)

Latency I think there is an option that disables the flash backs in the races, it also gives you more rep I think. You do get a bonus for not using flash backs in a race.

I love that there is no stupid story attached to the game. You need licenses to race and you new cars. As you race you get rep that goes towards your licenses and cash for cars.

Tbh, I just want to drive cars... Just glad to see a simple game with realism.

But yea, found Pro Mode which takes out the flash backs.

Need to practise the drifting though... that's hard that is :P

i LOVE this game, its THE BEST arcade driving game ive ever played.

Le Manz can be quite annoying tho, as it is a 12 minute race and when ur outta flashbacks then someone rams u off the track.

i got used to drifting quickly, m top score is somethin like 8,576,463 14x multiplier.
the later licences are really really hard an i refuse to go below normal difficulty jus to beat it.

driving inside the car is awsome, your windscreen gets progressivly smashed!
its not just one generic crack and then next no windscreen.

LOVE IT YEH

I still don't like the head cam... I really want to use head cam in lots of driving games, but the lack of peripheral vision just makes it impossible...

Until they make a movement tracking system or 3d monitor that gives you peripheral vision like in real life driving, head cams just make the game harder, not more realistic...

id have to agree AND dissagree with you there latency.

sometimes i find driving in head cam quite alot eaiser. it gives me more of a feel for the size and shape of the space that im in (the car) and i tend to hit things less and brake on time and accelerate on time through corners

it does lack peripheral vision like you stated.

try head cam on a track you know, you will not be dissapointed :)

Yea... each to their own I guess!

Last time I tried it though, was on the Mustang Muscle car race on the demo, and that probably wasn't the best time for it, the barriers made seeing ahead very difficult. Probably easier on something like touring cars...

My birthday's coming up, so I'll make a request :)

Until they make a movement tracking system...

You mean like TrackIR (http://naturalpoint.com/trackir/) - which has been available to use in games for ages?

It's available in the UK as well: TrackIR 4 Pro (http://www.sky-sim.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=7&products_id=235&osCsid=0a6e264706c165192bfb5619dbd3b425) - £110.

And finally... there are a number of videos on YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/results?search_query=trackir+4+pro&search_type=&aq=0&oq=TrackIR), showing the system being used in various flying/driving games ;)

True! Still won't be as with a real car though ;)

i never got these.. how do they work??

you turn your head to the left, as does the screen, meaning you have to turn back to see the screen? or is those goggle crappy things?

These ones aren't about looking around, they're about seeing round things.

If you're on the head cam in a car, you move your head to the left, and the camera shifts left to see around the windscreen pillar.

But it doesn't help me out, because while a 37" TV makes my games immersive, it's hardly 'in the car' when the TV is about three or four meters away...

I don't think we'll get that real IN THE CAR feel until we have main stream monitors that require you to move your head around to see the full screen... Like that awesome alienware one...

but again it makes no damm sense!!!

think about it... you TURN your head left therefore are looking to the left, the screen did not magically move!! you have to turn back to see it or look at the corner of your eye! I mean does anyone not see the problem with this???

It's all about the magnitude that you you turn your head and the magnification of this...

Turn your head a little bit, camera moves a lot - easy really ;)

No, there's no turning involved at all. That's not what Track IR is for.

Imagine your monitor as a window- Track IR shifts the camera view so if you try and peer round the inside edge of your screen, the camera will move so it looks like the monitor has depth.

Head turning would require virtual reality, or the screen fixed to your head (glasses), but this system works to let you see AROUND objects on the screen.

This video shows a good example: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=p9ekpuvGK60&feature=related

The guy can look left and right at cars, and look into corners, instead of the rigid head cam.

TrackIR follows your head as you turn it - according to their website and you can see it in the video.

Turn your head and the viewpoint moves to adjust and reflect the head movement

latency
17-06-2008, 22:04
Well yes it CAN follow your head, my point is that it's not designed for use in an FPS style situation, where you'd be turning away from the screen- which I think is what liadbacklad is envisioning,

Made a discovery- switch off stability control and it takes out ALL the twitchiness of the controls- everything goes nice and smooth.

I was having major trouble keeping the car in a straight line, slightst touch on the analogue sticks and the car was swerving.
I think it's there for people on digital controls like keyboards, where you only have full lock in either direction.

Just don't go into a corner on full lock though, else you get huge understeer... realistic at least ;)
