View Full Version : vista 64 and quicktime/itunes
Has anyone else installed this?
I've installed it and it feels like a load of crap compared with xp.
Quicktime manages to crash apples (who manages to junk up every page with bloomin quicktime) own site when you go to some pages.
Itunes doesn't link into my network drive (I've had to map it), it slow as hell, yes I've got over 90gigs plus vista's networking issues but even so this is slow.
This is just bleeding stupid, apple making vista 64 bit feel like second class citizens again

it's their plan to wear you down and sell you a mac book Air...... ;)
I don't think M$ will get 64bit Vista working properly till sp2
hopefully they will get the networking sorted as well as file copy! but don't hold your breath...
you should feel lucky.
i'm stuck with 3Gb of iTune bought songs and vids that i can't play on my Linux :(

Well the macbook air isn't an issue (I want one if the batterylife is true - 5 hours of wireless productivity) but the issues are in my opinion apples fault.
IE7 - as soon as I disable the plugins it works fine minus quicktime bits on the pages it doesn't want to work on - apple.com/support for example can crash my browser every time and firefox portable is fine.
iTunes - doesn't access my network folder so its clearly got some networking issues.
Vista's only been out a year, looks like I may be uninstalling itunes/quicktime then and using flash (when it works without shockwave) for video's on my site - God the joys of 64 bit

Vista is terrible when it comes to Networking.
What is the OS of the Networked drive? In my experience Vista has trouble connecting to anything other than the same version of OS.
All i can think is trying to remove all Quicktime from the comp and trying to install it again.
vista accesses the drive fine that isnt the issue, itunes doesn't actually show anything up when trying to move the add files to bit of preferences (Im not the only one either)
iirc my synology is running a linux variant.
As to quicktime - unfortunately its linked into itunes - remove qt remove itunes
