Sooo, I go into my local Focus store 1 week back, find some nice pink spray paint, ready to spray up my sisters new PC for chritsmas.

Get to the till, knowing what the store is like, have ID on me, showing im 16, a source from a known council website saying..

"The sale of spray paints is age restricted, meaning it is against the law for shops to supply them to children under the age of 16."

I ALSO had a photo, of 2 police officers, and a council mayor holding up a sign, saying it is now illegal for people under 16 to buy spray paint. Which you would think is enough?...well it was:p But thats not my point:D..

Now im not sure if, given with the reason of why I would like to purchase, they HAVE to sell me the product, but..

1 week ago I get to the counter,

Lady: Are you over 18 Sir?
Me: No im 16, *Hands out ID, an a loads papers from my pocket, showing Im allowed to purchase*
Lady: Hmm, * Calls over the manager.

1 min later, he arrives, takes a look at my proof, decides to sell me the paint.

I get out of shop, start spraying the case up, find out I don't have enough.

Today, come to the shop again, this time with my mum cos I was out with her at the time.

Get to the till, its a guy this time,

Blah Blah, Mum I have the cash il pay for my stuff,
Hands over £6.99, Sir are you over 18?
*Oh god not again* No im 16, *Shows ID*
This time, thinking I got through last time, didn't bring anything with me about age requirements.

Guy calls over manager, see's im the same guy. This time, manager, SAME GUY, says, sorry mate its 18 over only... WTF?! You see what I gave you last time, accepted it and let me walk away?

I now tell them the situation, why I would like to purchase some paint.
The manager then says, well this is what we can do, if you walk outside for a moment, Off of CCTV?
I'l never know why, just wanted to get out the shop to get back to painting, so didn't ask!

Manager continues: We can let you mum pay for the item and you can have your goods.

So i walk out. Come back in an we leave.

Yeah, I got my paint but what the hell?

1 week Im legal to buy something, cos I have *Evidence*, The next week, the same guy turns me down, even remembering last weeks situation, just becaue I have no paperwork, even though he knows im allowed to purchase?

They also don't *have* to sell you the product, it's down to the seller who they want to sell it to ;).

Oh how I love that fact.....

"The item is no longer for sale as I have concerns regarding its quality and therefore must remove and dispose of it"

Can we have a banstick?

We'll need an (un)willing volunteer to try it out on first...

Cheers,
Stephen

I have an electric banstick, but I think on this occasion it might be a tad OTT.

Ah humans, we spend half our lives trying to look older, and the other half trying to look younger (well the female variety anyway).

One of my supervisors at work flat out wouldn't believe that I was younger than him. Had to show him my drivers licence to prove it lol. Suits me though, I normally only get my ID checked when going into places that ID pretty much everyone...not that it particularly matters as I've always got it with me. The only time in my life when I've not been served was one time when I ordered some Balkan Vodka, which has a 21 restriction on it - I didn't actually know about that at the time, since I'd bought it in the same place 3 or 4 times before and never had my ID checked at the bar, so I'd never been refused.
