View Full Version : Hate to ask... Need a Vista x86 disc...

I've got a Vista Business license and an 64bit disc, but I can't find drivers for some of the components on my MacBook, so I'm dropping down to 32bit, where I can use the official apple vista drivers.

Problem is, I don't have a 32bit disc.

My boss reckons the license he gave me should be fine on a 32bit disc as well, so, at the risk of angering the mods- has anyone got a Vista 32bit disc the can send me a copy / image of?

Not interested in cracks or serials, already got a legit key.

Been looking for torrents for an hour now, but I'm rubbish with this bit torrent stuff, and I can't find one that's working.

Thanks for any help!

you should be able to download from msdn if as you know someone who can get you on!

I'll be happy to provide an x86 disc for you as it will be used with a legit key :) PM me your address latency and i'll fire it off to you. I imagine normal post will be fine for the job? I am a member of MSDN: AA through uni so its not a dodgy copy.

Six- checked with my boss, but he doesn't have an MSDN account, just that thingy that gets you in on all the betas and stuff... Nice idea though!

Digit- you got PM :)

Is it a retail or OEM code? If you bought OEM, then you need a new key.

I've never used one, so I really don't know... but it's possible, that 'Business' editions have a different licencing policy, to OEM versions sold to the general public?
Neither do I know what version(s) you [can] get through MSDN - i.e. Basic/Business/Home/Ultimate?

But as long as...

1. The licence Latency has, covers both 32bit and 64bit versions?

2. The version Digit is sending/has sent is a 'Business' edition, specifically?

3. The licence covers it for installation on a home computer as well?

... what they're doing/have done should be fine?

If just one of those criteria isn't met though... expect problems?

The MSDNAA version won't work with a regular licence key - in the same way that an OEM key won't work with a volume licence CD (well, you can't swap keys and disc types around with XP anyway, and I wouldn't imagine that had changed with Vista)

Dunno... action pack gives you business. And we all know that any one with more than one pc probably has it! (If they're aware of it and not naughty.)

I can't remember what service my boss has, but he's confident the key will work.

I have obtained a disc, going to test it this evening, but stuck in road accident traffic now, going to be a while before i get home :(

Suggest this thread be locked, since I've had vista for several months now...
