hi ive got a new dvd burner a tsstcorp sh-s203n sata

ive just tried to burn some demos in nero 7 and 8 as data dvd and i get a crc error, ive tried 5 times and updated firmware, the dvds are datawrite,

i just burned an audio cd on imation brand and it worked first time

ive now burned demos on dvd on my second pc without a problem(different writer)

i havnt got any other make dvds to try, shall i buy some or is the dvd writer broken, its burnt an audio cd succesful or is that different piece in drive?

I would try another brand of DVD. If that doesn't solve the problem it's not a massive loss as you can use the DVDs when you sort things out :)

I tend to stick with Verbatim these days, but I've used Datawrite discs in the past meself, and never had a problem with 'em?

However... CRC errors are usually a sign of damaged/corrupt media.
Whilst they can indicate a problem with the drive itself, you'd likely hear it 'grinding' if that were the case
And you've indicated the drive successfully burned an audio CD, which would suggest the drive is indeed A-OK.

So I'd go with GeorDIE's suggestion [initially] of trying some different brand discs, to see if they make any difference?
Just borrow a couple of CD's/DVD's if you don't particularly need more than you've already got.
If you have to buy some, may I suggest getting either Verbatim or Ritek ;)
