In this picture you will see the Lian-Li air duct from Kustom pcs I have installed it onto a 80mm fan that draws hot air out to the top of the case.

1 white primer, 2 coats satin super, 1 clear gloss. Holes filled in with car dent body repair stuff and sanded down.
Look closely at second picture and you can see the case feet I bought from here!! Went bloody brilliant with the mod too!! :)

VFD holder for under DVD-rom:
This is made up of 5 1/4 hard drive extensions and cut acrylic. Bloody took ages because I hate cutting acrylic!!!

Lettering:
Cut out of acrylic and then use needle files to shape the letters. Again ACRYLIC!!! :( Once it was shaped I tinted the lettering (and the window that would cover the VFD screen) with mirror reflective window tint from halfords. But I see you can buy it from Kustom Pcs now!!

Forgive my ignorance or misunderstanding here, but why aren't you using the beautiful Ferrari red Lian-Li case shown in your first post [which (I thought?) was the main reason you started this thread in the first place after all]... in that last picture

sorry my bad m8. The thread title should read my mods so far... I see how you would of thought that the ferrari one was the HD mod!! :)
But I did try to have the ferrari one next to the tv but I was told, "get that hidious thing away from the living room!!" :( So I decided to make one that was ACCEPTABLE in the living room. LOL.
P.s. thank you so much for calling my ferrari one "beautiful"....at least sum1 likes it! :)
The Ferrari one is a nice mod, but having said that there's no way in hell I'd have it sitting next to my TV. The HD mod looks nice, particularly with the VFD, but it could do with being a different colour. In the standard grey it looks like a standard case, even though the mods you've done to look great.
Nice pix, the 2nd case mods look cool but I agree with the others, it could do with some paint! I am currently modding a similar size/shape case, and using Vauxhall Midnight Black which has a silver metalflake in it. I think its a cool colour!

Hey sorry guys been busy this few weeks. Thanks very much for the opinions and will take into account the blandness of the white paint!! LOL. I thought it would look good but it did come out like a standard case! Pretty expensive standard case at that!! :)
And thanks again for the uplifting remarks on the ferrari one. Sadly its sitting empty cos I moved all the parts into the HD one! DOH! But I'm beginning to start on the Fugly case mod which I hope I can keep you all up to date on it.
The design so far is to make a new cover out of cutting acrylic. Cause it need to turn from ugly to good looking what better choice than to include Britney into the theme. I think she still looks hot. Well not the bald version! :) Keep you posted.
Also dogbref good luck on your mod mate. Sounds pretty nice choice of colour but one question, where did you get that paint? I can'tfind that type anywhere!! :) Hopefully you can share with us your mod in these forums.
Will post a pic soon....
it was suggested to me by my daughters ex BF - he used to work in a vauxhall dealers body shop - picked the paint up at halfords - the metalflake is not a huge flake - quite subtle , but looks good - not sure about posting pics etc as i am a little bit unsure of my abilities compared to some of you guys. still very much a rank amateur at this game.:o the sig should give it away- lol - "mutilator" of pc's :) still will have to see what comes of the case mods and if it isnt too ghastly will give it a go !!

... not sure about posting pics etc as i am a little bit unsure of my abilities compared to some of you guys. still very much a rank amateur at this game.
It's quite simple really - as is anything, once you know how to do it of course :D
1. Copy the images from your camera to your HDD.
2. Upload them to one of the many free image hosting sites - i.e. Photo Bucket / Image Shack etc.
You'll need to create an account first, then I'd suggest you create sub-folders in your 'Album', to keep various pictures in respective/appropriate categories.
3. Once your account is created, open the sub-folder you've created, and use the 'Browse' function, to browse to each of the pictures on your HDD.
You're likely to have loads of images to upload, and I know Photo Bucket at least offers a 'Bulk Uploader' option for that purpose.
It basically just opens up a load more individual image boxes.
4. Once you've uploaded all the images... or at least as many as you can at any one time, click the 'Upload' button.
It'll take some time if you're uploading dozens of images, but once the uploads have completed, you'll see them all being displayed.
Simply repeat the process if you have more images to upload.
Underneath each image you've uploaded, are 4 boxes (this is again on Photo Bucket), with various 'links'.
5. Left-click on the text in the bottom one of the four ('IMG Code') to highlight it, then right-click and 'copy' the text.
Then simply 'paste' it into the thread you want to use the images in
Photo Bucket automatically resizes images to a maximum of 800 x 600... which is a perfectly acceptable size for individual images, if you're just included one or two in a post.
But if you're including a large number of them in your thread... you'd be best to reduce them in size still further, such that it doesn't take 10 minutes for the page/thread to load
That's better done before you upload them, with any of the free image resizing programs available, which allow you to 'batch' resize any number of images.
Microsoft themselves provide a free one called Image Resizer (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/learnmore/tips/eschelman2.mspx) in their XP PowerToys (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx) package.
Look down the right side of that 'XP PowerToys' page, and you'll find the 'Image Resizer' download link 5th up from the bottom ;)
Use that program on your images to reduce them in size, then upload the resized images to the image hosting site.
Job's a good 'un :D
LOL!
hadn't even thought about fotos yet!! its the work on the PC I'm worried about!:D

I'm not keen on the Ferrari mod, i don't like the colour. I've never been a fan of red, or the car if i'm honest! Although the work you put into the mod definately deserves some applause, the work looks very neat and tidy, and it seems that alot of effort went into the finish.
Nice One.
Personally however, I am a fan of white PC's. Not that dull beige, or grey crap, but nice glossy white, especially with shiny bits added. I like the HD mod alot, and i've been considering a similar project with my Antec Minuet 300, which I plan to use as a media centre in my lounge. I think it would be a good replacement for my Sky+ and sitting next to my 360 it would be cool.
Well done dude:)

Hey DieselLives thanks for your comments m8 and I'm loving the split opinions on the Ferrari cause I've had people say that the colour is too "red" too!! LOL. Also thanks for the comments on me HD white case too. I recently had a white "fetish" if you like (LOL). It turned out ok but I think I coulda tried another coat of gloss! Too late now. :( But yer glossy white is my new favourite thing the now too m8.
Again, would love it if you could share your finished mod m8 with the Antec case. I Googled that case and it TINY!! Would be amazing to see the finished mod. And good luck with it. :)
Btw heres a few pics of my current FUGLY mod but I can't do much because the MOT, insurance and road tax all came in this week!! So no funds to really press on with it.....

(ABOVE) This pic is the measurements of my new cover I will be making from acrylic. (Notice the measurements I made on the top of the case!!!)
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/9770/dsc01312mg9.jpg
(ABOVE) This pic is of the base of the new cover which I have still to file down the sides and shape it to make a final shape I will work with. The cover consists of two layers of 5mm acrylic glued together. Then I had to drill the holes for the bolts which attach to the front of the case.
Then I cut the acrylic to accomodate the DVD drives and a media card reader that will sit in the floppy bay.
Next step is to fill the holes with car body filler and sanded down.
The final part of the cover is another layer of 2mm acrylic but this time its held to the front case with m3 bolts. That is all in theory now to bloody get the job done! LOL.
I have got a LED vandal proof button from Kustompcs the other day and that will act as power button and HDD led. Power LED will not be needed because theres no point in my view cause I think I know my computer is on by the sound of the bloody fans I need to cool me machine! ;)
Also the bottom of the case I still need to Dremel a hole for a 120mm fan as intake. Front middle where floppy drives should be will have a Media card reader and usb port and then the bottom will have new case feet which I already bought from kustom. Phew! Writing all that I now know I'll never get it done this year! :) I'll try post more pics once I get more done.....cheers for now.....
EDIT: I forgot to add the case is gonna be sanded and painted glossy colour. Still not thought what colour although dogbref's suggestion of black metal flakes is running about in my mind. What you think dogbref? :)
LOL - my preference is black, glossier the better. small metal flake is excellent, But....... theres always a better colour scheme out there somewhere LOL :)
Have to say tho, love the quality of your paintwork on the Ferrari case, like others, not my fave colour, but excellent work none the less.
