View Full Version : PC keeps freezing and crashing...
hi, my pc started to freeze while playing CSS (everything froze and the sound kept looping) and every so often this resulted in a crash.
i thought it was a problem with CSS but last night it started doing the same (freezing and sound looping) while watching films (using VLC player)
i updated all my drivers and this didnt fix it, today i reinstalled windows and thought i had solved it but while waiting for things to download etc i started to watch a film... and yet again it froze... and then crashed.
i have the most recent drivers etc installed - so what could this be? and how could i fix it?

These things can be a real bugger to diagnose, tbh.
Is it only when you're doing something intensive that it crashes, or is it completely random?
Also, have you had any BSOD's, or does it just stay in the annoying 80's rap loop until you reset?
as said not the easiest to diagnose. Can you give us a little more info about the system, os and just for reference, what was the format of the movie you played.

Is your PC overclocked at all? If so, try dropping it back to stock and going from there. Also - do you have a spare graphics card you could plug in and see if it freezes/crashes then? Or have access to a linux distro - cause then you can check the memory.
OS: xp pro
memory is fine as i have tried a differant set, havnt had chance to swap the GFX card though.
i get the sound loop for a while and then it either starts working again or re starts intself...
my pc has not been overclocked either
ok lets try my request again. What are the specs of your machine. :)

ooo sorry, didnt notice my sig is missing (i had my spec in my sig :p)
spec:
mobo: ASUS P5B-Deluxe
CPU: E6600 (65nm stock @ 2.4)
RAM: 2 gig (although i only have one stick in atm)
GFX: 7950GX2
i think it may be the graphics card as i have just turned the fans up on the card using ntune as i noticed the temps were very high (over 80 deg C) and i have also under clocked the card a little to help lower the temp they are now at:
GPU1: 67
GPU2: 75
