A Criminal Hacker group has launched a rare Trojan attack on computers running OSX, Even the latest Leopard cant save you from this Trojan. Apple on Thursday confirmed reports of pornography web site where hidden software once downloaded could take control of your apple computer. It must have been a shock to apple that there was a security flaw in Apple OSX because they did not respond to claims that this was an apple attack at first.

“The timing of the Trojan horse suggests there are more to come, say some computer and Internet security professionals. As Apple’s popularity rises, “the bad guys are taking Macs seriously now,” wrote Bojan Zdrnja, of the Internet Storm Center, which is led by the Escal Institute of Advanced Technologies. After confirming the claims reported by computer-security firm Intego, Symantec engineer Joji Hamada wrote on Symantec’s Web site of suspicions that a wave of attacks and viruses are due. “If we see a rise in Mac malware, then we will have to assume that there are profits to be made in malware for Macs as well,” he wrote. “Stay tuned.” Not even Leopard can save you…

if you go to those sort of sites then you always run the risk of something dodgy happening.

as with any computer be it windows or apple, if you are sensible about what you do then you shoulnd't have any problems.

i've ran a windows client for ages with no AV on it, and i never got infected with anything.

I kind of question how real this threat is, as its all the security companies spouting about it, the same companies that are gradually losing money from windows users due to free stuff and the built in security of vista.

Not saying its not true but it kind of shouts lets try and get a new cash cow out of the unsavvy mac switchers etc

It's BS... You need to download a shady download from a porn website for an unknown codec, mount he image, run the installer, enter an administrator password, and complete the installation procedure, and people are yelling 'SECURITY FLAW!!!'

The most secure OS will fall over once the user gives a program an admin password.

Windows could get infected by just looking at the website.

“If we see a rise in Mac malware, then we will have to assume that there are profits to be made in malware for Macs as well,” he wrote. “Stay tuned.” Not even Leopard can save you… Which means that they are concerned about the attacks to come in the future.

It will happen eventually I should think, attacking OS X. I'm not 100% convinced by the threat either. The install procedure is so secure that it would be damn hard to get something to install in the background without being detected.

There's the rub though. If Macs continue to make gains in market share, eventually the computer illiterate masses will eventually own one. And how many of us know someone stoopid enough to install a random program from the internet? All of us I would suggest...

It's not if somebody will eventually infect their Mac with a virus, but how many of us will go D'oh and /slaps head

For me this is in some small way a good thing, it shows just how much more of the market apple are taking away from windows' grubby hands :)
I also agree with the idea of the anti-spyware/malware/virus companies spouting this crap i've had a pc with no AV or firewall client on it for years and never had a problem yet. The added bonus is the complete lack of slow down that anything i tried using to begin with gave me.(touch wood lol)
