Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3131) have some good info on it as well... but Hot Hardware (http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/AMD_DTX_Sneak_Peek/) were privileged with a "sneak peak" at a prototype DTX SFF System.

It was back in January of this year at the Consumer Electronics Show that AMD first revealed their plans for the DTX open industry standard for small form factor computers.

If all goes to plan and AMD’s vision for DTX comes to fruition, there will be a set of industry standards for chassis, power supplies, and motherboards,
which would not only make it possible for larger companies to more quickly introduce small form factor designs,
but do-it-yourselfers would have an array of off the shelf components to choose from as well.

Both articles are well worth a read, if you're interested in potential new technologies/formats ;)

Am I correct in saying that DTX is bigger then mini-itx??? As it doesn't actually seem very small factor....

It is the same width as mini-ITX, but slightly (7cm) deeper, it's also smaller than uATX.

Oh and there is a mini-DTX board that is closer to mini-ITX.

Actually think it looks a nice platform size, without too many compromises

But you can build a mini-itx system with a q6600 and 8800ultra if you wanted to :) So I don't see the point in this new form factor, sure its a new release but it doesn't seem like any new tech is involved.....

Mini-itx with C2D onboard is expensive and limited by the single slot - Oh and it is very difficult to find an AMD board in mini-itx.

Competition is the Mother of Invention, ergo, AMD introducing a useful new format can't be bad. Intel just screwed up with BTX in the implementation and format

blah. ANOTHER SFF? Aren't there already too many?

Step away from the keyboard after drinking...

Competition is healthy - have you much experience of SFF / HTPC etc, or just spouting **** that you read somewhere, again?

But, yes there are quite a few options around, Mini-ITX, uATX, nano-ITX and Shuttles format (which I can't remember the details of), to name but a few. Would you rather some CEO somewhere decided that there was only the one format available? I'd like to think that you could appreciate that?
