Fable

Ok guys and girls, spikeboy back with more problems ^_^

The missus recently had abit of a nostalgia trip and bought the origional Fable for PC (1996 i think).

Anyways, she tried installing it, when she tries to run it it comes up with and error saying:
"the required registry files are missing, please reinstall"

So after reinstalling, still no joy, install in safe mode, no luck.

Ive searched everywhere and cant find anything about it, what on account of it being such an old game.

Does anybody have any ideas, or had the same problem?

Probably be easier to buy a P2 running Win95 off ebay. Can't honestly see you getting it to work. Insert a load of jargon about too high spec system etc.

you could alway's get a copy of "Virtual PC" from Microsoft.
Then use that to run MS-DOS or Win95 on your desktop. Then install the game.

I assume you've tried running it in 'Compatibility Mode'?

If you have... [GPO]Solitaire's suggestion ^^ is probably yer best bet?

Tried compatibility mode with no success, and the other two kinda seem like a little bit TOO much effort lol

Spike! it might seem an effort but it's Bloooody handy :)
Virtual PC is about the only piece of GOOD software Micro$oft ever let us get for free :D
